Henry opened eighteen concerts for The Beatles across the US & Canada (1964) - However, his main source of income was from the Bourbon St strip (New Orleans), where he played for nineteen years. His name could still draw hordes of tourists, long after his hit-making days had ended. "Ain't Got No Home", achieved fresh notoriety in the 1990s - through its use, for a time, as the "Homeless Update" theme music, on The Rush Limbaugh Show.
Clarence Henry's pioneering contribution, to the genre, has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Mark Sandman (lead singer / bass player, of the rock band Morphine) - during a home-studio interview - cited Frogman as an important influence.

The one you shouldn't hurt at all
You always take the sweetest rose
And crush it till the petals fall
You always break the kindest heart
With a hasty word you can't recall, so
If I broke your heart last night
You always hurt the one you love
The one you shouldn't hurt at all
You always take the sweetest rose
And crush it till the petals fall
You always break the kindest heart
With a hasty word you can't recall
So if I broke your heart last night
It's because I love you most of a-all
You always hurt the one you love
The one you shouldn't hurt at all
You always take the sweetest rose
Crush it, till the petals fall
You always break the kindest heart
With a hasty word you can't recall, so
If I broke your heart last night
It's because I love you most of all
The lyrics of Clarence "Frogman" Henry's song You Always Hurt The One You Love speaks to the complex nature of love and relationships. The first two lines suggest that the person singing is aware that it is always the ones we love that we hurt the most, knowing full well that we shouldn't hurt them at all. The following line "You always take the sweetest rose and crush it till the petals fall" extends the analogy that we often take the things that matter most to us for granted, leading to their eventual destruction.
The next verse talks about how we often hurt people we care about with a hasty word that we can't recall. Here, the singer acknowledges his own mistakes, stating that if he broke his lover's heart last night, it's because he loves her the most. This line suggests that the pain caused by hurting a loved one is not intentional but just a by-product of our love for them. The repetitive nature of the lyrics and the soothing tone of Clarence's voice create a bittersweet feeling that speaks to the pain of love and relationships.

Me too. This stuff is legit. I knew a man who shared his name. Frogmans vocals are quite erratic with that incredible range! It's too bad he suffered homelessness, How much you wanna bet he was a moving public speaker? He's got a voice that could turn lead into gold.
