Well…the music of Clarensau is kind of like that.
Few bands can do so much with so little. The beauty of Clarensau’s sound is found in the simplicity of two acoustic guitars, the blend of the male and female voice, and the subtly found in just a touch of strings. Think Damien Rice meets Eisley or The Swell Season meets Taylor Swift…think The Fray if they traded in the piano for a pair of acoustic guitars.
Clarensau began as the solo project of Tyler Clarensau in late 2004, and has taken many different shapes in the days since. But it wasn’t until he met up with Sally and Tyler Caggiano that the band really began to take its greatest form. The band has over 300 shows under their belt and multiple EPs and self-releases, all which lead up to their official debut album, UNTIL OUR LUNGS GIVE.
Recorded in an Atlanta suburb with recording artist and producer Corey Crowder, UOLG boasts eight emotion-filled songs that sound a lot like a late night sing-a-long among friends. From the radio-friendly melody of “Summer’s Love Song” to the percussive beauty of “Coming Home,” from the honesty of “Love” to the frailty of “I Would Trade (Grandpa’s Song),” the sound of UOLG captures the essence of Clarensau…a sound that captivates the passion of the journey of life.
Not allowing music to be the only way to connect with people, Tyler Clarensau has also published two novels, both which center around the music he creates with the Caggianos. For the trio, this whole music thing isn’t the point, rather it’s the means by which they share their story with the world.
So don’t think of Clarensau as just another band with another set of songs and another tour schedule… think of them as that friend that’s there to help you sing your song.

To try and make you mine
I guess it worked, cause here we are, a family
But I feel lost, and I feel down
I can't think straight
So come right here, take my hand
Let′s get away
Katie, it's amazing how you were made for me
When you're not here in my bed, I can hardly sleep
But a part of me is lost inside these sheets
I know that it seems silly
′Cause the other three sixty four
You are laying in my bed, girl
But I want more, I want more
Katie, it′s amazing how you were made for me
When you're not here in my bed, I can hardly sleep
I know that tomorrow you′ll be staring back at me
But a part of me is lost inside these sheets
Katie, it's amazing how you were made for me
When you′re not here in my bed, I can hardly sleep
I know that tomorrow you'll be staring back at me
But a part of me is lost inside these sheets
The lyrics of Clarensau's song "Sheets" tell the story of a man who has written multiple songs for his partner in an effort to win her over. The effort was successful, as they are now a family. However, despite this happiness, the man still feels lost and down, unable to think straight. He longs for his partner's presence, urging her to take his hand and escape with him. He expresses his love for her, saying that she was made for him, but admits that a part of him is still lost inside the sheets when she is not with him. While she will be with him again tomorrow, he still feels incomplete without her, unable to sleep properly until she is once again lying beside him.
The lyrics of "Sheets" capture the intense emotions of love and longing. The song speaks of the intense connection that lovers share, and how much one can long for the presence of their partner. Furthermore, the song also speaks of the feeling of incompleteness that can come with not having the person you love with you. It is a reflection of the human desire for companionship and the importance of relationships.
