Come Home
Clark Dave Five Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Tears start fallin' from my eyes
I remember things we used to say
And the ties that bind our love
Only one thing I want to do
Come home (whoa yeah)
Come home
I'm comin' home
Please remember while I'm away
I think of you night and day
Of the things, of the fun
While we were one
Only one thing I want to do
Come home, come home
Long as I know I'm comin' home to you
I didn't think I'd ever be, whoa whoa
As bad as it's been, no-no-no
But now I'm comin' home
To give you a ring
As I write my letter today
Tears start fallin' from my eyes
I remember things we used to say
And the ties that bind our love
Only one thing I want to do
Come home (whoa whoa yeah)
Come home
Long as I know I'm comin' home to you
Only one thing I want to do
Come home (whoa whoa)
Come home
Long as I know I'm comin' home to you
The lyrics of Clark Dave Five's song Come Home express the feeling of longing to return home to a loved one. The singer is writing a letter, and as they do, tears begin to fall from their eyes as they remember the things they used to say and the love that binds them together. The chorus repeats the sentiment that the singer only wants to return home to their loved one, and they will do so no matter what.
The first verse of the song highlights the memories that the singer has of their loved one. This is further emphasized in the second verse when the singer asks their loved one to remember them while they are away. The line "Of the things, of the fun, while we were one" suggests that the singer is reminiscing about the happy times they shared together.
The chorus, "Only one thing I want to do, Come home" is the central message of the song. The repetition of this line emphasizes the urgency the singer feels to return home to their loved one. The final verse reveals that the singer is coming back to give their loved one a ring, which indicates a desire to commit and solidify the love they share.
Overall, the song Come Home is a sentimental plea for love and connection. It emphasizes the importance of belonging and the desire to return home to the person who gives the singer a sense of stability and comfort.

Reminds me of my first date in 1965. She played this on the jukebox. After a couple weeks, I never saw her again. I heard she passed away in 2004. This song always reminds me of her. RIP Betty!

White British soul-blues ... done only the way Mike Smith and the DC5 could do it. What a song. What a sound. Thank the Lord for that music era.
