Lost in time no time in space Never thought wed ever fade
This ain't the blues This ain't nothin new

Are we fallin off again Someone pushed us from the ledge
No crime no sin We just don't fit in

Lets get lost Lost in Space Just two people a little out of
place Nothing's wrong Everything's fine Just lost in time

Woke up in a lost and found Don't understand the here and
now This aint my world Glad you're in my world

Lets get lost Lost in space Just two people a little out of
place Nothing's wrong Everything's fine Just lost in time

Sorry it don't get better Lets burn all the bridges we cross
Sorry it don't get better Lets burn all the people we know
This ain't the blues This ain't nothing new

Lets get lost This ain't the blues Lets get Lost This ain't
the blues Lets get lost This ain't the blues Lets get lost
Lets get lost Lets get lost Lets get lost Lets get lost Lets
get lost lets get lost Lets get lost Lets get lost This ain't the
blues

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Clarke's song "Lost in Space" depict a sense of disorientation and feeling out of place. The opening lines suggest being lost in both time and space, feeling as though their presence is fading away. However, the singer acknowledges that this feeling is not unique or uncommon, stating, "This ain't the blues, this ain't nothin' new." It becomes apparent that they are experiencing a recurring struggle, questioning whether they are falling off track again and feeling pushed from the edge.

Despite this sense of displacement, there is no crime or sin associated with their feelings of not fitting in. The singer desires to get lost, specifically in the vastness of space, where they can exist as two people who don't conform to societal norms. They find solace in their shared sense of displacement, emphasizing that nothing is wrong and everything is fine within this state of being lost in time.

The second part of the song touches upon the singer waking up in a state of confusion and feeling misplaced. They express not understanding the present moment and feeling disconnected from the world around them. However, they find comfort in having someone who understands them and acknowledges that the person they're with is a part of their world.

The song takes a slightly darker turn in the last verse, with the repeated phrase, "Sorry it don't get better." This line suggests a resigned acceptance that things won't improve. The desire to burn bridges and remove themselves from the people they know reflects a yearning to disconnect from the source of their discomfort. The final repetition of "This ain't the blues" reiterates the sentiment that their current state is not unique or new, suggesting a longing for escape and a refusal to succumb to the blues.

This was signature tune for news sent from London to Denmark during World War Two. It was a mix of real news, propaganda, misleading information to the germans and coded messages for the Danish Resistance. It's very special for my generation and it actually made me wish a trumpet for my 8 years birthday. Have played it ever since.

Oh my God, when you were a boy, your parents were BBC listeners during WWII and the German Occupation of Denmark. No doubts, it was so dangerous for your family. This story and this music make me cry.

@Aestheticvibes121

Wow thanks for your interpretation.

@sandyhenderson441

Ah that's clever! The original name for this magnificent piece was the Prince of Denmark's March, so giving an additional 2-finger salute to the aggressors.
