Holding On
Clarkesville Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hold on everyone is hanging on,
Hanging on to what we've got,
'Cause time waits for no one.

If you're rung out and beaten,
And all your reasons turn to none,
Well just put on your jacket,
And if you can't hack it turn and run.

Hold on everyone is hanging on,
Hanging on to what we've got,
'Cause time waits for no one.

We're all hung up on something,
Running from nothing most of the time,
Well just stand up and take it,
And if you can fake it tow the line.

Hold on everyone is hanging on,
Hanging on to what we've got,
'Cause time waits for no one.
(Time waits for no one)

Holding on, everybody's hoping, everyone is holding on,
Holding on, everybody's hoping, everyone is holding on,
Holding on, everybody's hoping, everyone is holding on,
(I keep running, I keep on rolling, I keep on moving on)
Holding on, everybody's hoping, everyone is holding on,
(I keep running, I keep on rolling, I keep on moving on)

Holding on, everybody's hoping, everyone is holding on,
(I keep running, I keep on rolling, I keep on moving on)

That man threw the slowest and weakest punch that I've ever seen.

Just a statistic

Agreed. I was just about to say that. Old people sometimes forget they haven't gotten off the couch in decades and still think their still the quarterback in HS..

I cannot believe some of these comments. He was clearly in the wrong for hitting that young man. In Arkansas, you may only use physical force to defend yourself if it can be reasonably assumed that the other person intends to harm you. Which is to say, they have to display some level of aggressive behavior.

For those who are still going to insist that the young man's posture was "threatening," despite all evidence to the contrary, let me give you the definition of threatening behavior according to the law:
"Acts of aggression such as yelling at a colleague, pounding on desks, slamming doors, blocking or cornering, and sending threatening voice-mails, e-mails, or other written threats."

I fail to see how this young man was a threat. If that's how you see him, maybe take a minute to examine yourself and why you see him that way.

I feel like someone coming across a street and getting in my face is threatening especially considering the current climate. I am for BLM in general, but don't get in dude's face. If that isn't in the definition of threatening, then the law is outdated/out of touch.

Shawnji

@Michael Williams Well, if you're unhappy with the law, you're always welcome to protest or lobby your representatives to have it changed.

For my part, all I can say is that I respectfully disagree on his manner being threatening in any way. I've watched the video several times and I just do not see it, personally.

Michael Williams

@Shawnji I disagree, but that's ok. What would be much better is if all this crud were to come to an end. Have a good day!
