Elizabeth Harper is a former drama student from Los Angeles, USA. Harper also pursued a solo career as an indie rock singer-songwriter. She released a studio album Elizabeth Harper in 2004 (2005 in the UK and 2006 in Japan). After the producer Mark Richardson remixed a song, she preferred Richardson’s version to the original, and the two eventually reconvened in Brooklyn. They began fusing Harper’ songs with sampled drumbeats and synthesized instruments and named the collaboration Class Actress. Later, multi-instrumentalist/engineer Scott Rosenthal joined the group.
In 2010, Class Actress released the 5-track EP Journal of Ardency on Chris Taylor’s (of Grizzly Bear) Terrible Records.
In October 2011, the band released the debut album Rapprocher (meaning "to come closer" in French) on Carpark Records. The album received many positive reviews. The single "Weekend" supported the album.

Let Me In
Class Actress Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
do you really think it goes away?
everything in life is a gamble
if everything you say just sounds the same
so what can i do
that hasn't been done to you
all i could say is i'm not easy
but you know it's hard to stay away
let me in, let me in, there you are
your feet, they never touch the ground
let me in, let me in, there you are
follow me up, i'll follow you down
do you really think you need a change?
do you really think it goes away?
all you know, heavy sighing
feel you from ?? away
i never said that i was easy
i never said that you'd stay
so what's the point of breaking even?
if you always get your way
let me in, let me in, there you are
your feet, they never touch the ground
let me in, let me in, there you are
follow me up, i'll follow you down
never gonna give up on you, baby
never gonna give up
oh i know
"Let Me In" by Class Actress is a song about someone trying to connect and make a change in a relationship that has become stale. The lyrics suggest that the person they are trying to connect with may not think they need a change, or that things will just naturally get better on their own. The song implies that the person may be stuck in a rut, just repeating the same things over and over again without much thought or passion. The singer seems to be urging this person to take action, to try something new, and to let them in, to open up and connect in a real and meaningful way.
In the chorus, the singer repeats the line "let me in" several times, suggesting a need for more intimacy and connection. They offer to follow this person up or down, implying that they are willing to go on a journey together, to explore new experiences, and to take risks. This speaks to the theme of gambling that is mentioned earlier in the song. The singer seems to be saying that life is a gamble, but that they are willing to take that risk if it means building a more fulfilling relationship.
Overall, "Let Me In" is a melancholy, yet hopeful song about trying to connect in a world that often feels disconnected. It speaks to the human desire for intimacy and meaningful relationships, and the need to take risks to build something real and lasting.
