He was one of the most important figures in music at the turn of the 20th century; his music represents the transition from late-romantic to 20th century classical.
Debussy's most dramatic contribution to music history was his disregard for traditional chord structures and tonality. He is one of the most important exponents of the whole tone scale in classical music history. His compositions flowed without a strict sense of metre or rhythm, and are considered the pioneering works of the Impressionist genre of classical music, named in comparison with the visual arts movement.
Debussy's impact was far reaching. His free use of harmony, which often altogether disregarded the concepts of tertian harmony, has been cited as an influence on the rise of Jazz music later in the 20th century.

This work remember me the colour and aesthetic from the Star Wars original soundtrack, in particular, Episode IV, a New Hope. Very similar. Claude Debussy influenced strongly in some soundtracks created by John Williams.

Your channel is simply gold. So much 20. century pieces, known and unknown, it is because of channels like yours who constantly upload new interesting music not looking for views, but simply for the love of music, that I discovered so many works which would otherwise remain unknown to me, especially in this time without concerts. Again, thanks!!!

Thank you. It's great to hear that. for me, making score versions is a really good way to get acquainted with music I didn't know!

Gorgeous.

He seems to have explored many of these ideas in his Nocturnes.

L explication prétendue du non achèvement de l oeuvre est qu on voulait imposer des contraintes a Debussy.
Mais sachant qu il écrivait que "la chose la plus fâcheuse du monde était de se recommencer" , votre point de vue est intéressant.

Why am I getting Ravel Piano Concerto for the Left Hand vibes in that Prélude

I can hear some Stravinsky here.

Yes, I think the first (private) performance of the Rite of Spring was Debussy and Stravinsky on two pianos, and would have been about this time....
