Reverie
Claude Debussy Lyrics
Our love is a dream, but in my reverie
I can see that this love was meant for me
Only a poor fool never schooled in the whirlpool
Of romance could be so cruel as you are to me
My dreams are as worthless as tin to me
Without you life will never begin to be
So love me as I love you in my reverie
Make my dream a reality
Let's dispense with formality
Come to me in my reverie
Our love is a dream, but in my reverie
I can see that this love was meant for me
Only a poor fool never schooled in the whirlpool
Of romance could be so cruel as you are to me
My dreams are as worthless as tin to me
Without you life will never begin to be
So love me as I love you in my reverie
Make my dream a reality
Let's dispense with formality
Come to me in my reverie

Debussy's impact was far reaching. His free use of harmony, which often altogether disregarded the concepts of tertian harmony, has been cited as an influence on the rise of Jazz music later in the 20th century.

Debussy's music is simply magical. It's kind of dreamy, ethereal, and somehow it makes you feel nostalgic for something that never happened before in your life. Something that you want to seek for the most, i.e your dream landscape.

I hear this music and i agile a beautiful ballerina in white lightly dancing to this music on a moon lit night with lots of stars. She is so eloquent with each note. And makes me tear up.

debussy’s pieces have been through everything with me. happiness, sadness, heartbreak, guilt, anxiety. they’ve seen it all.
