Dubois was an early star of the francophone musical Starmania. He was a vocalist in the Canadian famine relief song "Tears Are Not Enough" and was nominated Most Promising Male Vocalist at the Juno Awards of 1985.
Slipping the game disk of Railroad Tycoon II into iTunes reveals a collection of tracks attributed to Claude Dubois titled Ma Préférance. Dubois' music seems to make up the entire musical content of the game and harkens back to the era of coal and steam locomotion.

Quand l'soleil est couché j'me lève
In Claude Dubois's song "Artistes", the lyrics suggest that when we are "up" and making music, we are all artists. The song celebrates musicians, dancers, actors, and writers, all coming together to create something beautiful. The lyrics imply that even when the world feels dark and lonely, there are still people out there making art and finding joy in it.
The first verse encourages us to "hold the rhythm" and "clap our hands without hitting the neighbor". The idea is to come together with a beat, to create something that moves people. We then move to a description of the night, where Dubois and Dracula roam the streets, accompanied by other artists. The stars are obscured by a "spaceship" in the sky, and the earth feels small in comparison to the vastness of the universe.
Next, we focus on a woman who dances and draws on her eyelids, creating a dreamlike effect. Her movements bring the music alive, and the lyrics suggest that "the word is nothing more than a gesture." Finally, Dubois brings the song back to himself, noting that as he ages, he becomes more "terrestrial" and less concerned with angels. He sees beauty in everyday people, with their angles and curves.
Overall, "Artistes" celebrates the act of creation, bringing together people from all walks of life to make something beautiful. The song encourages us to hold on to art even in dark times, and to take joy in our own creativity.
