Robbery
Claude Kelly Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(2x):
My hearts missing
Has anybody seen it?
'Til I find it
Ain't nobody up in here
Leave it

DJ cut the music
Just somebody
Turn the lights up
Party people
Please stop moving
Cause something here
Is very unusual
See he showed up in my face
Like a thief in the night
Asked me if I wanna dance
I said alright
Our bodies
Pushed together so tight
I didn't know nothing
Was missing
Till he said bye so

Chorus:
Hands up, hands up
There's been a robbery
Above me
He took, he took
The biggest part of me
Above me
(And I wanna know)
I never got your name
I don't even know you
Throw my heart out
I left it out
On the dance floor
So hands up, hands up
There's been a robbery
Above me

(Repeat 1st verse 2x)

Security lock
All the exits
Don't let no cars
Out of the vale
I'm about
To really lose it
If I can't find nobody
To help me
See he showed up in my face
Like a thief in the night
Asked me if I wanna dance
I said alright
Our bodies
Pushed together so tight
I did not know there
Was something missing
'Til he said bye so

(Chorus)

(Repeat 1st verse 2x)

(6x):
How you gonna go through
My heart like this?

(Chorus 2x)

(Repeat 1st verse)

Overall Meaning

The song "Robbery" by Claude Kelly talks about a woman who lost a part of herself after meeting someone at a party. The song begins with the singer asking if anyone has seen her missing heart and decides to leave until she finds it. The DJ is asked to cut the music, the lights are turned up and people are asked to stop moving because something unusual is happening. Then, a man appears and offers to dance with the woman. They dance so closely that she realizes that she didn't know there was something missing until he left, taking the biggest part of her with him. The chorus has the woman saying "hands up, hands up, there's been a robbery above me" to signify that she feels violated and robbed by the man who took her heart and left without her knowing his name.
