And when I'm away from you I love how you miss me
I love the way you always treat me tenderly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me
(Love how you love me)
I love how your heart beats whenever I hold you
I love how you think of me without being told to I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me
(Love how you love me)
I love how your eyes close whenever you kiss me
And when I'm away from you I love how you miss me
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me
(Love how you love me)
I love how you hug me (love how you hug me)
I love how you squeeze me, tease me, please me
Love, how you love me
I love how you love me
Claudine Longet's "I Love How You Love Me" is a sweet and romantic love song that expresses admiration and affection for someone who is dearly loved. In the song, the singer enumerates the things that she loves about her partner- their tender treatment, heavenly touch, and the natural way they think of her even when she is not around. However, of all the things that are enjoyed about the relationship, what stands out the most is how the partner loves the singer. The singer feels an overpowering sense of affection towards the partner because of the way they love her, and she talks about how the partner's eyes close when they kiss, how they miss her when she's not there, and how their heartbeat changes when they hold her.
The repeated line, "love how you love me," is an indication of how important it is for our partners to love us in a specific way. It is important to feel and know what it feels like to be in love; each interaction feels magical compared to the last. Additionally, the song's use of "darling" to address the loved one also displays the singer's intimacy and her deep fondness for the partner.
The song is often described as one of the most popular love songs of the 1960s, an era in popular music that is noted for its romantic themes. Interestingly, the song was written by the renowned songwriting duo of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, who are popular for their many hit collaborations. They wrote the song for The Paris Sisters in 1961, and it became an instant hit. However, Claudine Longet's version was the one that charted higher, peaking at number two on the US Billboard chart in 1965. The song has been recorded by various artists over the years, such as Brian Hyland, Bobby Vinton, and The Walker Brothers.
