Don't Walk Away
Clegg Johnny Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dogs in the backyard
And the flies are on the wall
Thunder and lightning
But the rain don't ever fall
If there's a flower in this desert
It's your picture on my wall
Ibe dat baby I'm going to make you
Queen of all

Chorus:
This is not a movie
Not a dream
What you see is what you get
This is not a movie
It's for real
You have to face it in the end...
The hard side of love

Don't walk away
Don't walk away --
I need your love
There's nothing on the other side ---
This I say to you
One day I know we will
Free our lives.
One day I know we will
Free our lives
One day I know we'll turn that tide.
Let the wheel turn one more time

Woke up this morning
While you were still asleep
Looked through the window
Into the empty streey
I don't know exactly
What came over me
But now I know baby
I'm going to lay some of this world
At your feet

Chorus....

Some day, some day

Wo! yelele mama!
Yelele mama a ye!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Clegg Johnny's song Don't Walk Away depict a sense of loneliness and longing for love. The imagery of dogs in the backyard and flies on the wall, along with the absence of rain, paints a picture of a desolate environment. However, in the midst of this barren landscape, the singer finds hope in a picture of his love interest, vowing to make her the queen of all. The chorus emphasizes that this is not a dream or movie, but a real situation that must be faced – the hard side of love. Despite the challenges, the singer pleads for his lover to not walk away, assuring her that there is nothing on the other side and that they will eventually free themselves from their troubles.

In the second verse, the singer wakes up early while his lover is still asleep, feeling a sense of purpose and determination. He looks out the window at an empty street and reflects on his feelings, realizing that he wants to lay his world at his lover's feet. The song ends with a sense of optimism, with the singer exclaiming that someday they will turn the tide and let the wheel turn one more time.

Overall, the lyrics to Don't Walk Away are a poignant reflection of the ups and downs of love, with a message of hope and perseverance.
