It was Stevie Wonder’s ‘Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing’ that struck the loudest chord with Cleo as a youngster discovering music. “It’s inspirational in terms of putting together a track, the technicalities of the song, and how Stevie sounds so perfect in just one take. That’s how music should be”.
Cleo’s inspirations derive from her parents musical passions, shuffling through a record collection of classics across Motown, Reggae, Latin, and Acid Jazz. Cleo developed her own taste, inspired by pop culture of the day. Akin to millions of other young girls, Cleo loved the Spice Girls, and wanted to grow up to be flame-haired Geri. These days she’s loving House music, Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32 and Frank Ocean.
A West London girl at heart, Cleo was born and raised in Ladbroke Grove and was brought up with a strong sense of community. A regular at the annual, famous Notting Hill Carnival, Cleo is often spotted cycling around the roads of West London. The slightly cooler, more beautiful ‘girl-next-door’, Cleo, loves fashion and she says her style is influenced by her Dad’s ‘rockabilly’, mixed with grunge and 80′s era music; “If all else fails, it’s all about the big hair and big earrings”, she says.
A stint at a local youth centre paired with a dedicated and motivational singing teacher came together to alter Cleo’s passion for singing from a hobby to a serious profession at the age of 16, and she began song-writing and honing her vocals on a weekly basis, later performing at monthly showcases. After reinventing herself as ‘Cleo Sol’ (the Sol paying homage to her sunny Spanish heritage) and posting a few tracks onto her MySpace page in her late teens, veteran underground producer Davinche (Kano’s P’s & Q’s) spotted the singer and asked her to collaborate on some tracks.
Her relationship with Davinche would prove to be instrumental in putting Cleo on the map in terms of the UK underground music scene. The partnership with Davinche led to tracks with Tinie Tempah on ‘Tears’, Wretch 32’s ‘Dancefloor’, Davinche’s ‘Hero’ and ‘Riding for Love’ alongside Bashy. Cleo also featured on ‘Give a Little Love’, the official Orange Rockcorps anthem alongside Roll Deep, Wretch 32 and Aggro Santos. Showing her versatility, Cleo also featured on Funky House songs ‘Addicted’ and ‘Time to Let Go’.
Her promo tracks in 2011 ‘LoveBass’ and ‘Call for Me’ received heavy support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss, Choice and Rinse DJs (Swerve, Trevor Nelson, Target, Manny Norte, Ace n Vis and Ronnie Herrel). ‘Call for Me’ was selected by Twin B as 1Xtra’s ‘Best of British Track of the Week’ in early May 2011.
In addition to receiving key radio play, industry taste-makers (including ILUVLIVE, MOBO and Urban Development) began to spot Cleo, marking her as a ‘one to watch in 2011′.

And quiet down your ego?
Don't complain about finance
I know your daddy weren't a real man
Go ahead and live your dreams
To me you're stronger than a whole team
I know you can't relax
I see you work real hard (hard)
You wanna help your friends (help your friends)
But trust me, baby, you don't owe them
Don't take on people's problems
I wanna see you smile
Even when you think I'm angry
It's true it might take a while
But it's between you and me
Where sum
Where sum
No no, no no
I know you check my texts
Don't you worry 'bout my ex
I might be on his mind
But I never reply
Remember on the weekend
I said I'll make some changes
And you said you'd do the same thing
And I don't wanna fight my king
I held you when you was weak
You caught me on my knees
Don't pressure me for some kids
And I won't pressure you for marriage
I know it's never the right time
But we gotta do things on our time (our time)
Sometimes, I still doubt myself
But at least now I love myself
And I am quite emotional
That's why you can't get close at all
So I start to push away
The ones that love me
'Cause I'm scared that they might walk away
I'm not perfect
So I try everyday and I grow a little bit
Read a little more so I can educate my kids
Eat for my soul and cleanse my spirit
Pray 'cause I'm ready for the bloom of the seed
Peace and serenity is all that I need
Sometimes, we fall in love
Love is always in us
Sometimes, we fall in love
Love is always in us
Sometimes, we fall in love
Love is always in us (love, love, love, ooh)
Where sum
Where sum
Oh no, no, no
Eat, pray, love, grow
Eat, pray, love, grow
In Cleo Sol's song "Why Don't You," the singer urges her partner to let go of his ego and not complain about finances. She acknowledges the hard work he puts into helping others but advises him not to take on their problems. Cleo wants to see him smile even when he thinks she's upset, and assures him that she won't pressure him for marriage or children. She reminds him of the changes they both agreed to make, but also acknowledges her own emotional struggles and tendency to push people away.
The song is a call for vulnerability and self-love, urging listeners to focus on their own personal growth and not let fear sabotage their relationships. Cleo Sol's soulful voice conveys a sense of honesty and authenticity, and the simple, repetitive chorus featuring the phrase "where sum" adds a meditative quality to the song's message. Overall, "Why Don't You" is a reminder that self-love and emotional awareness are essential ingredients for building healthy connections with others.

@AlThurayya7
Omg yes! Can they make this happen please cos I would love to go!
@janellebooth3993
Simply perfect. That was a genius idea. Can you imagine a large stage with a huge number of people chilling right in front, on the grass. Blanket, wine, food, on a summer night and all the these feel good songs performed on stage. I can picture me there right now with either my significant other, or my girlfriends. How can we make sure this comes to fruition??!!
