Said label released the single, recorded in Quest Studios, in a collectible metallic sleeve. Still, the group struggled, and they soon split up to pursue new directions. The brothers continued as a revamped Click Click a few years later, however, as they worked with the new label of Rorschach Testing Product in 1985. Bringing in musician Jon Morris, they released singles "Sweet Stuff" and "Skripglow", which displayed their mutation into a more darkwave outfit.
Their first studio album, 1986's 'Party Hate', brought them some underground success. The album's cover displayed a mannequin-like figure being strangled and chocked by the chord of the headphones it wore. Evolving more into pure industrial music, their songs served as a dark reaction to the glamorized new wave pop of the era.
The Smith brothers augmented themselves with various floating members, including Pete Hosier (who remained with the band throughout their existence after he joined), as time went on. They signed to the label Play It Again Sam in 1987 to record follow-up albums 'Rorschach Testing' and 'Bent Massive'. Those releases found them exploring more cold and grey musical vibes in many songs compared to the black and nihilistic vibes of some previous ones. The brothers Smith bumped Jon Morris for Graham Stronach in 1987; Graham remained with the band until the end of 1989, when it sadly imploded
Over the next two decades, the group's work received some sporadic releases, including 1997's
'Shadowblack' and 2008's 'Lung Function - The Singles'. The brothers Smith revived Click Click to underground acclaim in the mid to late 00s, even playing some live shows from 2009 to 2010. Their latest album was 2011's aptly titled 'Skin And Bones, which found the group sounding as brooding and nightmarish as ever.

the needle's touching ninety
and I don't want to hurry you (don't want to hurry you)
and the road hits the roof as the car turns over
I watch you going backwards
and the seal of your life now lies there broken.
And it feels like a miracle
and the glass in your lap, and the glass in your face lies
glinting in red
and the road hits the roof as the car turns over
I feel you there beside me
and my hand comes away from the back of your head
glinting in red
To see you stand and take my hand
would have to be a miracle
You're laying still beside the wheel
so twisted it's impossible
I wait for you to tell me that it's all been
just another dream
but how can you tell, when it's so true
true
how can you tell when it's so red?
The above lyrics are from the song "Red" by Click Click. The song describes a car accident where the singer is a passenger and their partner is the driver. The car is driving at a very high speed, and suddenly, it hits a slick on the tarmac and a corner from nowhere. The singer watches as the car turns over and goes backward while the seal of their partner's life now lies there broken. The glass in their partner's lap and face glints in red, and the road hits the roof as the car turns over. The singer feels their partner's presence beside them, but when they touch the back of their partner's head, they notice their hand glinting in red.
The singer hopes that it feels like a miracle that their partner survives, but the scene is too gruesome, and the partner is lying beside the wheel all twisted and still. The singer waits for their partner to tell them that it's all been just another dream, but how can they tell when it's so red and true?
