From a Distance
Cliff Richard Lyrics

And the snow-capped mountains white
From a distance the ocean meets the stream
And the eagle takes to flight
From a distance there is harmony
And it echoes through the land
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace
It's the voice of every man
And no one is in need
There are no guns, no bombs, no diseases
No hungry mouths to feed
From a distance we are instruments
Marching in a common band
Playing songs of home, playing songs of peace
They're the songs of every man
God is watching us, God is watching us
God is watching us from a distance
From a distance you look like my friend
Even though we are at war
From a distance I can't comprehend
What all this war is for
From a distance there is harmony
And it echoes through the land
It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves
It's the heart of every man
It's the hope of hopes, It's the love of loves
It's the song of every man
The song "From A Distance" by Cliff Richard is a contemplative and reflective piece that explores the themes of hope, peace, and harmony. The lyrics describe how from a distance, the world appears serene and idyllic, with no violence or hunger, and everyone working together in a common band. The singer suggests that it is only from a distance, that we can truly see the world for what it is, and appreciate how beautiful and peaceful it truly is. The lyrics also touch on the idea of the presence of God in our lives, and how he is always watching, even from a distance.
The song goes on to describe how even in times of conflict, we all have a common goal of peace, and that this is the hope of every person on earth. The final verse of the song speaks to the idea that God is always watching us, providing us with the hope and love we need to overcome our differences and work together.
Overall, the message of the song is one of unity, hope, and love. It encourages us to remember that we are all part of the same human family, and that we need to work together to create a better world for everyone.

From the first time I saw Cliff sing this song, on the video for The Event, I have loved it. He gave it his all, forever the professional. Two days of the biggest production completed, he was, no doubt, relieved that it was the success it was. This man deserves so much more credit than he gets. He never gives up and this song shows what he is capable of. It will always stay up there with my all-time favourites.
