Distance
Clint Lowery Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Want you show me some grace
I see that look on your face
You′ve had all you can stand
Go fetch your miracle man

These moments eat me alive
I can't forget but I try
Do you remember your life
Before that devil inside

Oh God you hear me I know
I′ll feel you more when I'm old
Another face I don't know
I′ll take my chances alone

Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Don′t anymore, you don't anymore

Some tell us how we should live
Some die before they begin
Those damn cliches will not end
The truth gets under my skin

Our insecurities fly
I′d save the world but I'm tired
Don′t think that we can't survive
Another angel′s demise

Oh God I've lived with it so long
It's too bad we loose our control
Another memory we sold
I do much better alone

Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Don′t anymore, you don′t anymore

I gonna die baby tell 'em find someone
All the luck we waste is still one more

Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Oh you know it
Everybody gets what everybody wants
Oh you know it

Everybody gets what everybody wants
Don′t anymore, you don't anymore

Overall Meaning

The song "Distance" by Clint Lowery is a powerful ballad about loss, regret, and the complicated nature of relationships. The opening lines, "Want you show me some grace, I see that look on your face, you've had all you can stand, go fetch your miracle man," set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is begging for forgiveness and understanding from someone who has reached their breaking point. He acknowledges that he has caused pain and is now looking for a way to make amends. The line "you've had all you can stand, go fetch your miracle man" suggests that the person he is addressing has been waiting for a savior, someone to rescue them from their pain, and the singer is acknowledging that he cannot be that person.

The chorus of the song, "Oh you know it, everybody gets what everybody wants, don't anymore, you don't anymore," speaks to the idea that life is unpredictable and complicated. We all have wants and needs, but sometimes we don't get what we want, and we have to learn to accept that fact. The repetition of "you don't anymore" suggests that the singer is coming to terms with the fact that he has lost something important, and he must learn to live without it.

Throughout the song, there is a sense of resignation and acceptance that comes from the realization that some things are out of our control. The line "those damn cliches will not end, the truth gets under my skin" suggests that the singer is tired of hearing platitudes and wants to confront the harsh reality of life. The final lines of the song, "I gonna die baby tell 'em find someone, all the luck we waste is still one more," speak to the inevitability of death and the desire to find someone to share our lives with.

Overall, "Distance" is a poignant song that deals with universal themes of loss, regret, and acceptance. The singer is searching for meaning and understanding in a world that is often cruel and unforgiving, and the song is a powerful reflection of the human condition.

Clint sorry to hear about your mom. Stay strong brother. Your music has helped me through a lot. I’ve been through a custody battle recently and it kills me seeing the pain in my 3 year old daughters eyes at times with how her vendictive mother handles things. That’s probably why she’s fee is my favorite song off god bless the renegades. Keep doing what your doing and thank you for always opening up and being real this crazy world we live in. Can’t wait to hear all the new music and the new Sevendust album! Helps more than you know. God bless you man!!!

the album was great I'm just mad the band didn't come to Austin even though the country shut down for a few months I am deployed right now and would have missed it anyway, this EP is epic , every song is great and the lock down version of she's free will be the song I play at my wedding, it may be about Clint's daughter but it hits me about my future wife and she cried the first time she listened to it. , melody and lyrics are Clint's super power.

Jamie Robinson

Marshall McLuhan
