And down and out in any way
How do you do, what you do, when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
Do you hang down your head and cry for mercy
Saying: "Have mercy, oh dear Lord"
Or do you stand firm and embrace today and tomorrow
Everyone's got a heart
And every heart's got a right to beat
State your claim, know your destiny
Talk is cheap, it's dead without works
Everyone's got mind every minds a right to think
Read the signs, find your harmony
And when you do happiness will be yours
What do you do when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
How do you do, what you do, when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
Do you hang down your head and cry for mercy
Saying: "Have mercy, oh dear Lord"
Or do you stand firm and embrace today and tomorrow
While you say: "Have mercy, oh dear Lord"
Everyone's got a heart
And every heart's got a right to beat
State your claim, know your destiny
Talk is cheap, it's dead without works
Everyone's got mind every minds a right to think
Read the signs, find your harmony
And when you do happiness will be yours
What do you do when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
How do you do, what you do, when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
What do you do when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
How do you do, what you do, when you are feeling blue?
And down and out in any way
Clinton Fearon's song "Feeling Blue" is a song about the emotional struggles we face when we are feeling down and out. It's a song that addresses how we react to difficulties and hardships in our lives. The lyrics ask, "What do you do when you are feeling blue?" and "How do you do, what you do, when you are feeling blue?" These rhetorical questions highlight the feelings of helplessness and despair that can accompany depression and sadness.
The song presents two possible responses to these feelings. One response is to "hang down your head and cry for mercy" and plead with a higher power for help. The other response is to "stand firm and embrace today and tomorrow" while acknowledging the need for mercy. The lyrics likewise affirm the importance of every heart's right to beat and every mind's right to think, but also emphasizes the importance of taking action to fulfill one's destiny, and finding harmony in the world. Ultimately, the song encourages a proactive approach to life’s challenges, rather than succumbing to despair.
Overall, Clinton Fearon’s “Feeling Blue” is a poignant reminder that we all face struggles in life, but it is up to us to choose how we respond to them. We can either give up and succumb to our negative emotions or stand firm and work towards happiness and a better future.
