Na na nana nana
This side of heaven
It got a dollar to my name
Never gave me nothing
I took it all and kept the change
I'm this broke ass hustling
It's just another misunderstood
sucker with this beats
I'm just a son with no father
Who's got his head under water
Good Lord have mercy
Oh, they say there ain't no hope for me
Good Lord have mercy
Ooh, I'm just a slave 'til day I'm free
Good Lord have mercy
I thank God for this angel on my sleeve
Good Lord have mercy
I just need some company
'Til the reaper comes
Until the reaper comes
Na na nana nana
Na na nana nana
Cheaper the keeper, a meaper, I'm in my fever
Body bagger, a sleeper
Fill up the green reaper
Keep up if you can keep up
Sneak up when we got creeped out
There'll be no sequels or equals 'cause this is for my peoples
Now gather around so I can break it down and educate
And try to elevate and teach you how to bake a cake
Wake up, wake up, see time is running out, no
You keep a close mouth, stayed on the right, wow
And take the time out, I come to find out
I'm just a son with no father
Who's got his head under water
Good Lord have mercy
Oh, they say there ain't no hope for me
Good Lord have mercy
Ooh, I'm just a slave 'til the day I'm free
Good Lord have mercy
I thank God for this angel on my sleeve
Good Lord have mercy
I just need some company
'Til the reaper comes
Until the reaper comes
Na na nana nana
Na na nana nana
Good Lord have mercy
Good Lord have mercy
I just need some company
'Til the reapers comes
The song "The Reaper" by Clinton Sparks starts with an upbeat and catchy melody, followed by a set of lyrics that narrate the thoughts and emotions of a person living on the streets. The first verse starts by stating that the singer on this side of heaven only has a dollar to their name and has never gained anything since birth. They have taken all that came in their way and managed to keep the change, painting a picture of a hustling life with no steady income. The singer further discusses the woes of their life, stating that they are just another misunderstood person with the beats. The chorus "Good Lord have mercy" is repeated, with the singer questioning their hope and position in life. They further mention that they don't have any companions and hope for someone to fill the void until the reaper comes.
The second verse has stronger lyrics, with the metaphorical presence of the reaper emphasised upon. The song adopts a more aggressive tone, moving on from the life expectations to living carefree and with no fear of the reaper. The artist uses various words which reflect the dominant factor of the reaper in their life, such as body bagger, sleeper, and green reaper. The lyrics become more aggressive and the singer provides advice to the audience to keep up and sneak up. The lyrics end with the same chorus mentioned earlier, with the singer claiming to being just a son with no father, metaphorically drowning and asking for a companion until the reaper comes.
