That is nostalgia and idealization created by pop culture, but THAT was not real at all. Reality was different, there was a lot of poverty and misery in the 80s.
Sport cars, beaches, beautiful women, sunsets, cocaine...that was the reality for 1% of people. Rich people, actors, singers, businessmen...the same reality that nowadays, nothing has changed. It's all the same and always will be the same.
Normal people were far away from all that.

Yeah, the technology was good enough for top sound (we already had digital sound digital halls reverbs that are still in use today, best ever analog and digital synths etc), and all the mix engineers had 20 + years of hard work expirence and 90% emphesis was on music, not the video with tits and asses, because music had to be so good you went out and spend 20 or more dollars for a record. Today 99% of the artists would not even be mentioned if that was the standard. 80's where the future with thinking: how can we make it better. Today is how can we make it cheap and sell as much as we can, quality and progress limited by 3- 5 years of producing "the next thing". What we can do today in 1 years is expended to 15 years. This is capitalism progress at its best. :) All that was made (the best of the best era) because od cold war and thiking that the end is near ... It was a genuin competition and race with time. Today is a race for money 90% and cheap tricks. Today's music technology is selling inventions from 1950 unwards to the 1989. Think about it.

It was huge in Europe up until New Beat took over the scene. Only Italo Disco you heard in USA was in the clubs in NY, LA, Chicago but not much every where else, certainly not on the radio. New Wave ruled in the USA until New Beat made it over , House , Industrial and then of course Techno.

It's rather a shame that most kids in younger and newly bred generations don't have the time, patience, and appreciation to give it a try of listening to old music as a hobby. There are at least a few kids like me and thankfully I'm one of the few kids who appreciate listening to old music. Matter of fact, I'm a music oldhead myself and I take pride in being a music oldhead. I've listened to old music continuously for 5 years and I'm currently 15 years old. When I stumbled upon this video (I love electronic and rock btw), the song was rather mesmerizing and I really love the effect the song has placed upon me. I'm grateful for that. My voice will be heard as newly bred and newer generations pass down generation to generation.

You're mistaken bro. A lot of younger generations are becoming curious of music, fashion, tv etc from the 90s, 80s, and beyond. I'm 33. Growing up in the 90s, young people weren't exposed to older music because there wasn't much access to it.... nowadays thanks to the internet, people have access to pretty any genre of music from any decade they can imagine so younger people are more exposed to it. It's more appreciated than you think. Especially during the era of COVID19, people are becoming more nostalgic of simpler times. Being 15 years old, you literally have never lived through any peaceful or prosperous era in society. The 90s was the last decade where everything was great. After 9/11 everything went to shit and nothing ever got better.

I didn't say kids are less exposed to old music (I know that myself that people have easier access to old music), I said that people are less appreciative of old music when they chose to not listen to old music like they're not trying. Let's just say an ordinary Zoomer is suggested by, let's say, a relative of his/her about old music. The zoomer listens to it for a while but then the zoomer refuses to listen to old music and instead goes back to his listening to his/her usual modern music. Also, regardless of my Cynicism and pessimism, you are partially right about the 9/11 thing. Politics has gone downhill and it's been bullshit ever since and I say that as a centrist. But there are some good things that come out nowadays like people find more acceptance to the LGBT community.

She left us in December of that year, she went to heaven and is a beautiful agel who takes care of us from Jeanne Marie and me. Because Italo Disco in general was not marketed well back in the 80's. It was huge in Europe but not in America. Brit and NY/LA based New Wave bands ruled the roost at the same time as far as danceable music. The International record companies could not figure out to market it well when it was up against Heavy Metal, Classic rock musicians of the 60's/70's trying to re-invent themselves, New Wave, 80's version of R&B what was then underground Hip Hop and other alternate music cultures at the time for any notoriety. You heard it in clubs in NY, LA, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Dallas etc. But not on radio, not even college radio stations that were playing indie rock, goth and later on industrial. Now it is starting to get its fair recognition thanks to the rise of Retrowave this decade and places like youtube:).

It can still count as new wave. Being originally inspired by a different genre isn’t all that unusual. Look at Blondie. They started off as a punk rock band and then recorded the disco hit Heart of Glass just for fun and became huge and then went on to record song in the style of new wave, reggae, and rap and they became massive hits as well.

Many graphic designers were imitating Patrick Nagel in the 80's. I remember going trough vinyl covers in the record store, it was important to have the cover art in front of you when listening to the records. Those were the days. Although there's more music available today the experience of chasing the hits is not the same. I kinda miss that.

This happens rarely: I have been listening to the 80s/90s since my early teenage days and there was no song among them that HIT's me with so much craving for more as this song. Aside from great Italo Disco music of the 80s, the real magic in this song is the sultry voice of this singer whom I don't know. Now, I am afraid she will continue to haunt my fantasy and imagination for the rest of my days on Earth; sigh!

Danial Ahmed Add to the fact that the song is arguably the best of its genre, nothing is known about the whereabouts of the singer, that this is only the second production of Roberto Ferrante, that he was only 19 or 20 when he wrote the song, that it was released in Italy and mostly popular and somewhat known only there and in France, maybe. Terrific pre house genre that thanks to Wave culture is getting the love it lacked first time around. A genius example which really benefits from Clio obviously having English as a second language. It's so good that Adamski & Seal stole it wholesale for the core of their 'Killer' i the '90s. And Trevor Horn added lots of bells and whistles but didn't change the bass part at all for Seal's solo version of 'Killer'.
