Brian Abbott (Drums) and Todd Evans (Guitar) joined them soon after, adding years of touring and studio experience. The band composes and writes for themselves, but their influences and tastes are so diverse that anyone can drink their Kool-aid. Producer Justin Long joined them in 2012 to help them harness the sound in their debut EP, Neighborhoods. Somewhere along the way, theyβve developed their own style of rock, but itβs not so different that itβs unrecognizable. We like to think of it as Clones of Clones, the slightly mutated test tube baby of your favorite rock bands.

Why, head so high, so proud
Without even believing, ask me how I'm living out loud
I live my life in the crowd
Why, head so high, so proud
Without even believing, ask me how I'm living
Out loud
Out loud
I live my life in the crowd
Why, head so high, so proud
Without even believing, ask me how I'm living
out loud
Out loud
Out loud
Out loud
And still there's loneliness, loneliness, we're lonely
And yet there's loneliness, loneliness, we're lonely
And yet there's loneliness, loneliness, we're lonely
That's why we're living out loud
Out loud
Out loud
Out loud
The lyrics to the song "Out Loud" by Clones of Clones explore the theme of living life in the spotlight and feeling a sense of loneliness despite being surrounded by people. The opening lines, "I live my life in the crowd, why head so high, so proud, without even believing, ask me how I'm living out loud," suggest a person who is trying to project a certain image to the public, but is perhaps not truly living authentically. The repetition of "out loud" throughout the song emphasizes this need to be heard and seen, to have one's life on display for others to see.
The chorus of "Out Loud" speaks to the irony of living a public life and feeling lonely. While there may be people around you all the time, this does not always guarantee connection and meaningful relationships. The repetition of "loneliness, loneliness, we're lonely" drives home this idea of isolation and the struggles that come with being in the public eye. Despite this, the song ends on a hopeful note with the line "that's why we're living out loud," suggesting that perhaps the search for connection and meaning is what drives us to be in the spotlight in the first place.
