Vocalist Shane Raymond and guitarist Brett Callaway met at Hardin-Simmons University, unaware that their casual encounter would morph into the emergence of one of the most powerful, uplifting groups around. Sonny Vega (bass) and Tim Friesen (drums) complete this talented line-up. Delving into the subject of Christianity as a major influence for their existence, CLOSE YOUR EYES makes it a point not to preach, like many others so often do. In the fall of 2011, the band released Empty Hands and Heavy Hearts, which channeled the impressive momentum that CLOSE YOUR EYES has become notable for. The album couples powerful melodies with inventive hardcore, furthering CLOSE YOUR EYES’ signature dynamic with their catchiest anthems, strongest vocals, and most monstrous guitar riffs to date. “Musically and lyrically, we poured our hearts into this one. The short time span that we had to record really brought the band closer together and allowed everyone to openly express themselves more than ever before,” Raymond commented.
Bringing their vibrant, energizing performances across the country, CLOSE YOUR EYES has certainly marched their way to the forefront of the hardcore elite. Playing major festivals such as Cornerstone and Sonshine, touring with A DAY TO REMEMBER and UNDEROATH, and performing on the SCREAM THE PRAYER TOUR, CLOSE YOUR EYES garners a new group of fans wherever they go. Due to personal reasons, Shane Raymond left CLOSE YOUR EYES in March 2012, leaving the band to fill his spot. With multiple attempts at a new vocalist, the guys were dedicated to finding a singer with the chops both musically and spiritually. They found that in Sam Robinson. CLOSE YOUR EYES announced in 2013 that the singer would be leading the band and set a release date for their next album, Line in the Sand, out October 29th.
Staying true to their musical legacy, the album has everything that made CLOSE YOUR EYES so notable, dynamic melodies blended within a unique take on hardcore. Taking it to the next level, with the addition of Sam, Line is the Sand is expected to be the band’s most powerful album yet. Back in action, the band performed at the 2013 South By So What festival and reminded crowds of their authentic commitment to music and bringing people together.
Just back from their headlining tour in Europe, CLOSE YOUR EYES is hitting the road in the U.S beginning October 23rd. With more passion than ever, the band will prove now more than ever that they have prevailed.

Line In The Sand
Close Your Eyes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song Line in the Sand by Close Your Eyes addresses the issue of hypocrisy in society. The lyrics highlight the fact that many people talk about love and tolerance, yet their words are filled with hatred and intolerance. The singer questions the sincerity of these people and suggests that crossing a line in the sand will be what unites us. By creating clear boundaries, it becomes easier to identify those who truly stand up for what's right and separate them from those who simply talk the talk.
The song also touches on the idea of individual freedom and choice, and how some people try to take that away by forcing their beliefs onto others. The singer declares that this is his "line in the sand" and challenges others to stand with him in the fight for what's right. The repetition of "victory or death" adds a sense of urgency and determination to the message.
Throughout the song, the singer uses powerful imagery to convey his message. The line "if death comes knocking, you can tell him that I’m still around" suggests that even in the face of great adversity, the fight for what's right will continue. The reference to "guns and cannons" emphasizes the seriousness of the fight and the high stakes involved.

In a world full of hypocrites that speak of tolerance and love, it’s hard to find a single one that lives the things they speak of.
People these days talk about being tolerant and loving, but hardly anyone actually lives by those words.
You speak of love and respect, but there is so much hate in your words.
You claim to speak of love and respect, but your words are filled with hate.
As soon as you disagree, the boundary lines are all lost and blurred.
The moment there's a disagreement, it becomes hard to distinguish what is right and wrong anymore.
Turn in that crooked smile, seething through gritted teeth.
Your fake smile is hiding the anger and resentment you have brewing inside.
You hide your true intentions, but they're crystal clear to me.
Although you pretend to be nice, I can see right through your facade and know your true intentions.
Don't we all know that crossing a line in the sand will be what unites us? History lies in the palm of our hand.
When we take a stand for what we believe in, it can bring us together as a society and shape the course of history.
'Cos I’m here fighting til they break these walls to the ground and tear the flag down.
I will continue to fight until these walls of hate and bigotry crumble and the flag of unity can fly high.
Your words have meant nothing, their presence subliminal. You monopolize acceptance and your hatred is criminal.
Your words are empty and meaningless, but they still have a subtle impact on those around you. You claim to be accepting, but your hatred is a crime against humanity.
If freedom of choice is a God-given right, then who are you to take it away? You pompous Pharisee, you have nothing on me. This is my line in the sand. Tell me, where do you stand?
If God himself granted us the right to make our own choices, who are you to take that away? You arrogant hypocrite, you have no power over me. This is where I draw the line. What about you?
Will you stand up for what's right or back down from the fight? Victory or death! Victory or death!
Are you willing to fight for what is right or will you shy away from the battle? It's either victory or death!
And I’m here still fighting, the guns and cannons will sound.
I am still here fighting, even though the battle may be long and hard.
And if death comes knocking, you can tell him that I’m still around.
Even if death comes for me, I will continue to stand and fight for what I believe in.
'Cos I’m here fighting til they burn these walls to the ground and tear the flag down.
I am fighting until the walls of hate and bigotry are burned to the ground and the flag of unity can fly high.

They don't suck they're just different. I wouldn't expect anything less when the only original member is the rhythm guitarist. Saw them at warped they weren't bad at all.
