What I go through
Always stuck on the outside
Waiting for you
You always say we're just friends now
I need to feel closer
Over and over
Tell me I'm the one who's everything
'Cause you haven't heard a single thing all night
Lie to me, just lie to me
Take me out of this reality
'Cause I don't think I can take anymore
Lie to me
I know it won't be that easy
But I gotta try
I want you to feel what I'm feeling
It's burning inside
Every moment gets stronger
It's pushing me closer
Over and over
Lie to me, Lie to me
Tell me I'm the one who's everything
'Cause you haven't heard a single thing all night
Lie to me, just lie to me
Take me out of this reality
'Cause I don't think I can take anymore
Lie to me
Please don't shut me out
I'm already breaking down
I'm already breaking down
You're with me or without
I'm already breaking down
I'm already breaking down
Lie to me, lie to me
Take me out of this reality
'Cause you haven't heard a fucking thing all night
So lie to me, Lie to me
Tell me I'm the one who's everything
'Cause you haven't heard a single thing all night
Lie to me, just lie to me
Take me out of this reality
'Cause I don't think I can take anymore
'Cause I don't think I can take anymore
'Cause I don't think I can take anymore
The lyrics of Closure's song "Lie to Me" convey a sense of desperation and longing for love and acceptance from someone who may not reciprocate those feelings. The singer expresses their feelings of being left out and waiting, while their love interest claims they are just friends. The singer is willing to believe any lie that would make them feel like they are important to this person, even if it's not true.
The chorus, where the singer asks to be lied to, is particularly powerful. The repetition of the phrase "Lie to me" almost becomes a mantra, a plea for the love interest to give them something to hold onto, to believe in. The lines "Tell me I'm the one who's everything" and "Take me out of this reality" suggest that the singer is not happy with their current situation and wants to escape it.
The bridge, where the singer pleads with the love interest to not shut them out, adds a layer of vulnerability to the song. The repetition of "I'm already breaking down" emphasizes the fragile state the singer is in, and how much they need the love interest's validation and support.
Overall, "Lie to Me" is a poignant and relatable song about the pain of unrequited love and the desperate measures one might take to feel loved.
