Wearing Out My Shoes
Club Des Belugas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's not a case of needing more, or wanting to be free
I could go and just explore, sail the seven seas
And know that I'd find nothing more, come back on my knees...
If I stay she goes, if I go she stays
But then if I go, she'll probably leave anyway
No way I can win, if I win I lose
She'll be wearing out my shoes. x 2
What I need is here and now, that's what's good for me
Keep me always guessing, caught me unexpectedly
Light the fire, warm inside, blowing from within
Together now we could go far, together travelling...
The lyrics to "Wearing Out My Shoes" by Club Des Belugas feat. Ian MacKenzie convey a sense of contentment and restlessness at the same time. The singer is happy where they are but wonders what else is out there. They don't necessarily need more, but the idea of exploring and sailing the seven seas is enticing. However, they acknowledge that they may not find anything more and might return humbled. The next lines highlight the singer's dilemma - if they stay, someone else might leave, and if they go, the person they leave behind may leave anyway. The singer feels like there's no way to win; they are stuck in a bind.
