2) Coaster:
Coaster were the first indie-pop-guitar band to be formed exclusively from cyborg constituents. Chris Thorpe (vocals, guitar) is a model TX-9287, Simon 'Keith' Allen (drums, backing vocals) an L277 Mk II, Rahoul Baruah (guitars, organ, hammers) a 3030303 and Steven Barlow (bass) a H0WARDD0N8LD.
Their sound was characterised by a mix of "brit-pop" and american punk, made all the more powerful by Chris Thorpe's poignant stories of nuts, wrenches and WD40. In fact, "Love me in octal" still graces the top of the robot all-time singles sales charts (compiled by Gallup) to this day.
Their first gig was at the BBC's Sound City in Leeds and they followed a grand tradition of rock bands by regularly sacrificing their drummers to the Norse god Heimdall - in particular "Baggy Matt" and "Hairy Nick" were swiftly dispatched to the Netherworld. But Simon Allen lasted longer than most, until he too was lost - this time to the Spice Girls.
Coaster disintegrated in 1998 in a puff of acrid smelling diesel fumes. Their parts are available on eBay.
