Time For Love
Coco Tea & J.C.Lodge Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well, I've spent a lifetime lookin' for you;
singles bars and good time lovers were never true.
Playin' a fools game hopin' to win;
and tellin' those sweet lies and losin' again.

I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.

Hopin' to find a friend and a lover;
I'll bless the day I discover
another heart lookin' for love.

And I was alone then, no love in sight;
and I did ev'rything I could to get me though the night.
Don't know where it started or where it might end;
I turned to a stranger just like a friend.

I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.

Hopin' to find a friend and a lover;
I'll bless the day I discover
another heart lookin' for love.

Then you came a knockin' at my heart's door;
You're ev'ry thing I've been lookin' for.

No more lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.

Now that I've found a friend and a lover;
I bless the day that I discovered
you, oh you;

lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.

Now that I've found a friend and a lover;
I bless the day that I discovered
you, oh you;

lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.

Now that I've found a friend and a lover;

I bless the day that I discovered
you, oh you; lookin' for love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Coco Tea and J.C. Lodge's song "Time for Love" revolve around the search for love, and the experiences of the singer while looking for it. The first verse describes the singer's lifetime search for love, where they resorted to going to singles bars and seeking out lovers. The payoff, however, was always disappointing, with the singer often playing foolish games, telling sweet lies in the hopes of winning love, only to repeatedly lose again. The chorus highlights the search for love in all the wrong places, with the singer looking for love in too many faces, searching for traces of what they dream of, with hopes of finding a friend and a lover.

The second verse describes the loneliness the singer experienced, doing everything they could to get through the night, seeking solace with a stranger. The third verse is the turning point of the song where the singer finally finds what they were looking for when the love of their life "came a-knockin' at my heart's door. You're everything I've been looking for." From that moment, the search for love in all the wrong places turned into a blessing, and the singer's gratitude flows out in the final chorus repeatedly blessing the day they discovered their partner, no longer looking for love in all the wrong places.
