Kill The President
Coffin Break Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm so happy it's sunny outside
I'm so happy it's snowing today
I'm so...
I'm so happy the world's gonna explode

I'm so happy I'm so in love
I'm so happy plan the honeymoon
I'm so happy I'm getting married
I'm so happy wanna burn the house down

Burn the house down

I'm so happy we live in harmony
I'm so happy we'll change history
I'm so...
I'm so happy I wanna kill my family

I'm so happy elected Bush today
I'm so happy I'm not a criminal
I'm so happy elected a crook again
I'm so happy wanna kill the president

Kill the president
Kill the president
Kill the president
Kill that president
Kill the...
Kill the president
Kill the president
Kill the presi...

Kill that whacky, cooky, funky
whacky, cooky, funky guy in the White House

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Coffin Break's song "Kill The President" contains a series of statements that seem contradictory or nonsensical. This suggests a feeling of dissonance, frustration or even nihilism within the singer or persona. They appear to be struggling with a sense of happiness or pleasure that is at odds with the problems, contradictions and tensions of the world around them. The contrasting weather conditions of sunshine and snow could represent the singer's inability to find stable ground or resolve their feelings. The line "I'm so happy the world's gonna explode" could be interpreted as a desire for cataclysmic change or a sense of impending doom.

The second verse shifts to more concrete expressions of happiness, such as being in love and planning a honeymoon, but then abruptly takes a darker turn with the line "I'm so happy wanna burn the house down". This could be seen as a metaphorical expression of frustration, anger, or a desire to start over completely. The third verse once again has contradictory statements, this time highlighting the tension between the idea of living in harmony and changing history and the desire to harm one's own family. This could suggest a sense of personal disunity or an inability to align one's values and actions.

The fourth and final verse takes a political turn, with the singer expressing happiness about the election of President Bush while also calling him a criminal and a crook. This could reflect a sense of conflicting perspectives or confusion about political realities. The repeated phrase "Kill the president" could be seen as a provocative and incendiary call to action or as a metaphorical expression of frustration and impotence. The final line, with its repetition of the phrase "whacky, cooky, funky", verges on the surreal and highlights the singer's anger and contempt towards the President.

You don't need to see his interviews to understand why he is a piece of shit of a human being...

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is
on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food
starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but
it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button
works!"

He twitted that on the 2nd of January of this year...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Coffin Break. I had the pleasure of playing a gig with them in the 80's and seeing them many other times !! I'm so glad to hear they still get together and do gigs again!!

@jasonwatson6785

how these guys never got more respect and more of a name is beyond me. so many catchy killer songs. before thier time, had they come out a few yrs later no doubt they would have rode a much bigger wave along with the other seattle and west coast acts. nirvana, green day and others have cited them as influences.

@cycologist7069

Bad timing.  They were around Seattle during the grunge explosion and probably got overlooked for that very reason.

@lennonstarkey4150

@CYCOlogist thats exactly what happened - everybody thought the'd be big but somehow it did not happen although they had it all - they were punk they had the 'nirvana/grunge sound' and knew how to pop out catchy pop tunes - anyways another overlooked great band
