Magic
Colbie Caillat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's leaking out all over my skin, yeah
Every time that I get close to you
You're making me weak with the way you look through those eyes
But all I see is your face
All I need is your touch
Wake me up with your lips
Yeah, oh, I need you
I remember the way that you moved
You're dancing easily through my dreams
It's hitting me harder and harder with all your smiles
You are crazy gentle in the way you kiss
And all I see is your face
All I need is your touch
Wake me up with your lips
Come at me from up above
Oh baby, I need you to see me the way I see you
Love me wide awake in the middle of my dreams
And all I see is your face
All I need is your touch
Wake me up with your lips
Come at me from up above
And all I see is your face
All I need is your touch
Wake me up with your lips
Come at me from up above
All I see is your face
All I see is your face
All I see is your face
The lyrics to Colbie Caillat's "Magic" describe the way the singer is profoundly affected by being near and intimate with the person she's singing to. Throughout the verses and chorus, the song builds up a picture of the intense connection between the two, with the singer feeling like magic is flowing out of the other person's fingertips and onto her skin. The way they look at her, the gentle way they kiss and the way they move are all described in detail, and emphasise the way the singer is caught up in the intensity of her feelings.
The chorus repeats several times throughout the song, reinforcing the singer's need for her partner's touch, kiss and overall presence. The lyrics utilise imagery such as "Wake me up with your lips" and "Come at me from up above" to suggest both the dreamlike aspect and the physicality of their relationship. The singer's desire for her partner to see her in the same way she sees them is also highlighted, further emphasising the intensity and depth of their connection.
Overall, "Magic" is a romantic and dreamlike song that delves into the intensity of two people deeply in love. It attempts to convey the almost supernatural power of that connection, evoking imagery of magic, dreams and otherworldly experiences.
