When the War Is Over
Cold Chisel Lyrics

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away

When the war is over
Got to get away
Pack my bag to no place
In no time no day
You and I we used each other's shoulder
Still so young but somehow so much older
How can I go home and not get
Blown away

You and I had our sights set
On something
Hope this doesn't mean our days are numbered
I got plans for more than a wanted man
All around this chaos and madness
Can't help feeling nothing more than sadness
Only choice to face it the best I can

When the war is over
Got to start again
Try to hold a trace of what it was
Back then
You and I we sent each other stories
Just a page I'm lost in all its glory
How can I go home and not get blown away

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away

Back in the 80's Cold Chisel should have been huge, but here in the UK, and in America everyone was obsessed with made-up pretty boys and electronic crap. Sadly for Cold Chisel they were the right band at the wrong time. Australia was lucky to have them, and the rest of the World should be ashamed at ignoring them.

America wanted to sweep the war under the carpet. Nobody wanted to talk about it. "Khe Sanh" by Cold Play is the greatest song ever written that describes what Vietnam vets experienced. Yet most Americans don't know that song or this one. This group is amazing

First of, they mainly preformed during the 70s... But that said, they where contemporary with acts like... AC/DC, U2, Midnight Oil, Eurythmics, Iron Maiden, WASP, Mötly Crüe, Tom Petty, ELO, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Status Quo, Gary Moore, Fleetwood Mac, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, David Bowie, Elton John, Bee Gees, ABBA, Depeche Mode, Prince etc etc... The list of huge and proper acts from that time is insanely long (and I can't possibly name them all) and the competition was fierce.

The 70s and 80s was more then Olivia Newton John and NKOTB. Pretty boys where the least of the problems for an rock-act in the 70s and 80s. Other rock acts on the other hand... Yeah.
People who's favorit artist is Paul Young wont be listening to rock, just because there are no Paul Young. They'll find other cheesy pop acts to listen to.

Yay! The 80s were phenomenal. I was 14 in 83, my boyfriend, his Holden Ute, Chisel, Fosters, bush, beach, bomb fires, laughs, and love. Great memories

LezDentz Chisel could of been big in the US but refused to give up their integrity and be re-imaged into a pretty boy group.

Great song. Great Memories. And I am a New Zealander. We may disagree, we will fight on on the sports field, but come for us, pick a fight, we will stand together. Kia Kaha, Australia, New Zealand.
