Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall
Coldplay/Coldplay/Coldplay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I turn the music up, I got my records on
I shut the world outside until the lights come on
Maybe the streets alight, maybe the trees are gone
I feel my heart start beating to my favourite song

And all the kids they dance, all the kids all night
Until Monday morning feels another life
I turn the music up
I'm on a roll this time
And heaven is in sight

I turn the music up, I got my records on
From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song
Don't want to see another generation drop
I'd rather be a comma than a full stop

Maybe I'm in the black, maybe I'm on my knees
Maybe I'm in the gap between the two trapezes
But my heart is beating and my pulses start
Cathedrals in my heart

As we saw oh this light I swear you, emerge blinking into
To tell me it's alright
As we soar walls, every siren is a symphony
And every tear's a waterfall
Is a waterfall
Oh
Is a waterfall
Oh oh oh
Is a is a waterfall
Every tear
Is a waterfall
Oh oh oh

So you can hurt, hurt me bad
But still I'll raise the flag

Oh
It was a wa wa wa wa wa-aterfall
A wa wa wa wa wa-aterfall

Every tear
Every tear
Every teardrop is a waterfall

Every tear
Every tear
Every teardrop is a waterfall

Every tear

Every tear
Every teardrop is a waterfall

Overall Meaning

The song, "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" by Coldplay, is about finding joy and solace in music despite the troubles of life. The lyrics speak of turning up the music and shutting out the world to escape the sadness and pain. The singer finds comfort in their favorite song, and they start to feel alive as their heart beats in time with the music. The chorus speaks of the power of music, where every siren becomes a symphony and every tear becomes a waterfall. The singer chooses to see every tear as a source of hope and inspiration, raising the flag to symbolize their resilience and determination.

The lyrics are rich in metaphors, with references to the streets alight and the trees gone, which suggest a transformation or chaos in the world. The line, "From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song," is a nod to activism and resistance, and the singer's preference to be a comma over a full stop represents their desire to keep going despite setbacks. The metaphor of cathedrals in the heart signifies the importance of music in a person's life, and how it can elevate the soul and offer a sense of spirituality.

And This is Coldplay, the biggest band of current world.
This is the band who writes their own music.
This is the band which produces beautiful deep lyrics and amazing melodies.
This is the band that doesn't fear trying out new patterns of music in every album.
And,Though they are so much famous and popular worldwide, all Band members are absolutely down to earth persons.
They teach you 'Love' and everything good in this world.. :)
Also, they are one of the very few bands without half naked girls on their video and still have so much popularity... Coldplay, "oh,You make me feel Alive again! Alive Again!!"
Who can hate them??!
Humanity needs more music from Coldplay.. :)
