Coldplay-homecoming-feat Kanye West Lyrics

Yeah
And you say Chi city, Chi city, Chi city
I'm coming home again

Do you think about me now and then? (yeah)
Do you think about me now and then?
'Cause I'm coming home again, comin' (ow) home again
I met this girl when I was three years old
And what I loved most she had so much soul
She said, "Excuse me lil' homie, I know you don't know mebut
my name is Windy and I like to blow trees" and
from that point I never blow her off
Niggas come from out of town, I like to show her off
They like to act tough, she like to tow 'em off
And make 'em straighten up their hat 'cause she know they soft
And when I grew up she showed me how to go downtown
In the nighttime her face lit up, so astounding
I told her in my heart is where she'll always be
She never messed with entertainers 'cause they always leave
She said, "It felt like they walked and drove on me
Knew I was gang affiliated, got on TV and told on me"
I guess that's why last winter she got so cold on me
She said "'Ye, keep making that keep making that platinum and gold for me"
I'm coming home again

Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
'Cause I'm coming home again
Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
'Cause I'm coming home again
Maybe we can start again

But if you really cared for her
Then you wouldn't have never hit the airport to follow your dreams
Sometimes I still talk to her, but when I talk to her
It always seems like she talking 'bout me
She said, "You left your kids, and they just like you
They want to rap and make soul beats just like you
But they just not you" and I just got through
Talking 'bout what niggas tryna do, just not new
Now everybody got the game figured out all wrong
I guess you never know what you got 'til it's gone
I guess that's why I'm here and I can't come back home
And guess when I heard that? When I was back home
Every interview I'm representing you, making you proud
Reach for the stars so if you fall, you land on a cloud
Jump in the crowd, spark your lighters, wave 'em around
If you don't know by now, I'm talking 'bout Chi-Town!

I'm coming home again
Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
'Cause I'm coming home again

Maybe you, do you remember when?
Fireworks at Lake Michigan
Oh, now I'm coming home again
Maybe you, do you remember when?
Fireworks at Lake Michigan

Oh, now I'm coming home again
Maybe we can start again

Overall Meaning

The song "Homecoming" by Coldplay featuring Kanye West is an autobiographical song by Kanye West. The chorus repeats the lines: "And you say Chi city, Chi city, Chi city, I'm coming home again," which can be interpreted as West returning to his hometown, Chicago. The song incorporates a sample from "Home" by American R&B and funk band The Masqueraders. The first verse of the song reinforces the idea of West's return to his roots. The verse speaks about a girl named Windy, who is actually a personification of Chicago. Windy is shown as a strong-willed, independent woman who has helped West grow up and taught him a lot of things in life. In the lyrics, she is portrayed as someone who is gang-affiliated, and because of this, she doesn't trust entertainers, as they always leave her. She is also represented as someone who helps West differentiate between right and wrong.

The second half of the song speaks about West's relationship with the city, its people, and its culture. The lyrics reference the rapper's fans and the people who want to follow in his footsteps, but they can't be him. West also talks about how sometimes he still talks to Windy (Chicago), but it seems like she's always talking about him, which represents the rapper's relationship with his hometown. He talks about how he left his kids, and they want to follow in his footsteps, but they're not him. West also talks about how he didn't realize the value of Chicago until he left and visited again, as he mentions the fireworks at Lake Michigan.

Overall, the song "Homecoming" is a bittersweet tribute to Chicago, as West recognizes the city's significance in his life and his career, but he also acknowledges how leaving it behind has affected him. The lyrics show West's emotional state as he tries to reconnect with the people and the place he once knew.

***** Fine. Lets take this into consideration. And i expect a valid rebuttal or else i will not reply.

Ā
Kanye changed hip-hop. He has 6 of the most acclaimed albums ever released (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is regarded the best album of the 2010's so far). Lets not ignore the fact that he has 21 Grammy awards.Ā

His albums have been well received by legendary musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Bono, Bruno Mars, Nas, Elton John, and even Obama (despite hisĀ JackassĀ comment referring to Kanye). The list goes on but i'll stop there.Ā

He changes his style on every single album of his. He began with soul sampling on his first album, to a baroque approach on his second album, then he incorporated electro/disco in his third..... all the way to his most recent album Yeezus, which was industrial hip-hop. He can mix genres, sample without difficulty, and is a VERY creative artist, who is overlooked because of his childlike antics.

I feel you haven't listened to his music and hate because you do what the other brainwashed sheep do. But there i proved your point wrong.

No matter what Kanye does or how irrationally he acts in the present day, nothing will ever take away from the fact that heā€™s made some of the best music in his generation.

So many people complain about how much of a "rude, disrespectful, and outrageous" person Kanye West is, but at the end of the day, the man is completely talented with what he does. He makes true art, and although he may be very opinionated, aren't we all? I give him so much respect for his hustle. I hope one day I can inspire the world with my music the way Kanye continues to do each day. Feel free to give my songs a listen, if you like what you hear, that's all that really matters to me.
