Daylight
Coldplay Lyrics

To my surprise, and my delight
I saw sunrise, I saw sunlight
I am nothing in the dark
And the clouds burst to show daylight

Oh and the sun will shine
Yeah on this heart of mine
Oh and I realize
Who cannot live without
Oh come apart without
It

On a hilltop, on a sky-rise
Like a firstborn child
And at full tilt, and in full flight
Defeat darkness, breaking daylight

Oh and the sun will shine
Yeah on this heart of mine
Oh and I realized
Who cannot live without
Oh and come apart without
Daylight

(Slowly breaking through daylight)

Okay..
As much as i LOVE the old Coldplay better than the "new" one. I still appreciate the "new" Coldplay.

I don't think there's a such thing as new or old Coldplay, tbh.
It's all just part of the band's evolution.
I noticed how i did enjoy some of their newer stuff too.

I mean, even if you prefer the "old" Coldplay, you can still go back to hear those masterpieces and that's what i like to do from time to time.

If i was an artist or in a band, i personally would've hated to repeat the same exact shit over and over again. Bands stay relevant by evolving. That's what make their sounds special, i mean, you never know, they could also go back to their original sound on their next album. You never really know what they might do next.

So to conclude this

I appreciate both sides of them since i really LOVE Coldplay. I've liked them since i was 11 ...and i am now 25 years old. So that's a long time of me being a fan. I will never hate them no matter how they decide to sound like and that's what most people should do. Appreciate them for what they are and you never know, you could like some of their new songs as well! :D

Stay calm and listen to Coldplay! :DDDD

Story time! I was driving south along the coast one afternoon from Noosa, in Queensland, Australia.

It was summer, and there were two massive afternoon thunderstorms rolling up from the south, one passing east out to sea in front of me, and one skirting the mountains further inland.

It's a fun road to drive, rolling and dipping and twisting, and the melody of Daylight fits the road beautifully.

So it reached the point in the song where Chris starts repeating 'slowly breaking through a daylight' when suddenly the Sun burst through from underneath the thunderstorm in the west.

The whole world just lit up in that beautiful sunset glow, lighting up the ocean to my left, the most amazing contrast with the long dark storm cloud ahead.

And all the while the melody is rolling, dipping, swaying just like the road itself. I have never had another moment like it. It was so invigorating and yet at the same time I had such a profound sense of peace.

It's the closet feeling I've had to what one might call a religious experience, and it's due to Coldplay.

Daylight - CORRECT LYRICS:

To my surprise
and my delight
I saw sunrise,
I saw sunlight.

I am nothing
in the dark.
And the clouds burst
to show daylight.

Ooohhh...
and the sun shine
Yeahhhhhhh,
on this heart of mine.

Ooohhh,
and I realise
Whooooo
couldn't live without,
Ooohhh,
come apart without...
...it?

On a hilltop,
on a sky-rise,
like a firstborn
Child.

And at full tilt,
and in full flight:
defeat darkness
breaking daylight.

Ooohhh,
and the sun shine
Yeahhhhhhh,
on this heart of mine.

Ooohhh,
and I realise
Whooooo
cannot live without,
Ooohhh,
come apart without
daylight?

Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight
Slowly breaking through a daylight...

To my surprise, and my daylight
I saw sun rise, I saw sunlight
I am nothing, in the dark
And the clouds burst to show a daylight
Oooooo and the sun shines, Yeaaahhh on this star of mine
Oooooo and I realise, Oooooo couldn't live without
Oooooo couldn't part without, it

On a hill top, on a sky rise
Like a first born, child
At a full tilt, and at full flight
You see darkness, in the daylight

Oooooo and the sun shines, Yeaaahhh on this star of mine
Oooooo and I realise, Oooooo couldn't be without
Oooooo couldn't part without, daylight

Slowly breaking through the daylight [22x to fade]

Sound Station

@USMCLP Yes, and my opinion is that there are parts of the song that sound like Radiohead. And I say it based on progressions especially in this one and in God Put A Smile Upon Your Face. Obviously I'm not telling you that Coldplay is copying Radiohead and blah blah blah.
The choruses are typical of Coldplay.
I'm sorry if my opinion is not like yours, but this is mine.

Radiohead's Just:
C, D #, D, F. (This song is 1/4 pitch down)

Coldplay's GPASUYF:
C #, E, D #, D (or F #)

And finally I have to say that I hear this song similar to Everything In It's Right Place or Pyramid Song in a different key but not in the whole song and less in the choruses.
Still I repeat, I am not saying that they are copying from Radiohead.

I love both damn bands, my God.

@Matthew Michael Exactly! And i don't think that's a bad thing at all. People always like to call a band that changes their sounds a "sell-out" but i don't think they are that because a lot of bands tend to change their sounds over time because they're not the same people as they are in, let's say 2003.

Everyone changes ...

I mean, look at it this way. I bet if we all did music, i bet our music would sound different the more the years go by and so artists are the same too.

I know most people hates when an artist evolves but it is what it is and i personally like them however they choose to sound like. They're still Coldplay after all.
