After independently releasing an extended play, Safety (1998), Coldplay signed with Parlophone in 1999. 2 completely different voices but what's stopping admiration from one great artist to another? Chris Martin has always said he's a big A-ha fan, He's not exactly destroying a great song is he? He's paying homage and a tribute and you know what? Complete respect to him for that.

Normally, I wouldn't be too happy with someone else covering an a-ha song, but Coldplay are such fans of the band. I think that they do the song justice. I like it. Plus they've played with Magne on stage. It's clear that the two bands are friends.

I see loads of complaints about this version and i agree that's not really as good as the orginal one from a-ha, but you gotta understand that a-ha is impossible to be copied! nobody has such a voice like morten harket!!! and i think any version that is a tribute to my favorite band, A-HA, it is VERY WORTHY!!! I've been a big A-ha fan for nearly 30 years, and II agree that this is a nice tribute from Coldplay to A-ha. Morten Harket has one of the most beautiful male voices in pop music.

I didn't know Aha originally did this song, but after listening to this song first this one is my favorite version. The way Chris Martin sings this song is so hauntingly beautiful and full of emotion.
