I Ran Away
Coldplay Lyrics

One, two, three... well
I ran away from you
That's all I ever do
And though I started here
I ran away from you

I'm gonna come on in
And see it through

I ran away from you
That's all I ever do

And when I heard you call to
Come back to me
And though I should stay
I don't have the stomach to

Everyone I know
Says I'm a fool mess with you
Everyone I know
Says it's a stupid thing to do

I have your love on call
And yet my day is not so full
There might be nothing left to do
So I ran away from you

I'm gonna come on in
My eyes are closed

I can feel it there
The sun's so close
I'm gonna come on out
And burn the sky

A star arose in my own cage
I'm stuck in line
And in a cage

Just a single star
I sing for

Everyone I know
Says I'm a fool mess with you
Everyone I know
Says it's a stupid thing to do

I have your love on call
And yet my day is not so full
And I did not know what to do
And so I ran away from you

Coldplay never disappoints. Their old music is very nostalgic and calm. Their newer music is cheerful and still full of emotion. It's not like the crap that's released today. This is yet another underrated song by them. I grew up listening to Coldplay when I would go on long road trips because no other music worked for my dad. He got bad anxiety on the road after he crashed his truck, and Coldplay was the only thing that calmed him down. As a result, it rubbed off on me. I'm a super fan!

@Tocaraca they are def sellouts. Just listen to army of one. Cheesiest, dead sounding lyrics ive ever heard. People loved the old coldplay because they were truly expressive with their melancholic feelings and people could find meaning in their lyrics BECAUSE they were so obscure. If you look at old concerts and performances vs the new concerts the energy is much different. In the old concerts chris was more genuine and goofy etc. Well this is mostly my opinion except for the sellout shit. Everday life is the closest we have ever heard to them sounding like they use to in recent times.

Holy fuck. This is almost the exact same situation for me 2...My dad left when i was young. He was an alcoholic. An amazing person, kind and gentle on the inside and very intelligent. He could never overcome the addiction however. My only memories of him were the moody, calm melodies of old coldplay songs. Everytime i hear there songs a strange pure joy and extreme sadness comes over me.

I agree. I only recently discovered coldplay and don't know about music quality as well as other people who play music, but, imo, both their old albums and their newer ones are great. X & Y and Viva La Vida from their older albums are absolutely magical. Parachutes/A Rush Of Blood To The Head have calm/sad songs that I listen to when I'm feeling down or when I wanna calm down (their newer albums also have some sad songs like "Us Against the World"). Albums like "MX" and "A Head Full of Dreams" are more cheerful and have some of their best songs (imo) like birds. Also all their songs and albums have meaning:
Hurts like heaven: About individuality and revolting against authority
Paradise: About growing up and trying to escape reality
Charlie Brown: About people who cannot get anything right and always have bad luck so they have given up on life
A Head Full of Dreams: About dreaming bigger than yourself / having dreams and ideas
Birds: Leaving free and enjoying life

Coldplay is absolutely amazing and the new music is crap like Grace De Jong said. All the Coldplay haters need to stop trying to ruin the fun for us fans...

I think a lot of people confuse 'personal preferences' and 'opinions'.. I myself like Coldplay's older albums more, because the songs are mainly (in the direction of) rock, which I like/prefer, more than their calmer songs they make nowadays. But hey, I could be wrong, I don't know that much about Coldplay. I just appreciate them a lot.

This is definitely one of the best b sides of Coldplay together with ghost story, glass of water, rainy day, one I love and 1.36

Richard Roberson

For You is one of their best songs straight

Ramírez Fuentes Santiago

Of the best b sides? You mean one of the best songs of them.
