WOTW / POTP
Coldplay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In a world gone wrong
I shall be strong
Wonder of the world
Power of the people
I'm in my room
My faith is strong
Wonder of the world, power of the people
Our world tonight, get it right
On and on, just as people
For one night, I'mma feel right
Wonder of the world, power of the people

Ooh, ooh

I'm not sure anyone, not even Chris, knows what the official lyrics to this song are. But also I can't stop listening to it

The live version of this song feels way better than the record version

Much like the recorded album is comprised of two parts, I like to think of the in-studio album and live broadcast performance as two halves of something bigger. This track on the album is a rough demo scratch recording, a work in progress, an idea worth getting out and also worth including on the completed record. This track from the live performance shows a further progression and work on the initial lyrical fumblings into a more solid message. My favorite change is the confidence in the line "In a world gone wrong/I shall be strong" to the more sincere questioning "/How can I be strong?" I find both versions to be comforting, and I'm glad they made a bold choice to include the incomplete song on the album, and to "finish the lyrics" for the performance.

The version of this song that is on the album, comes from an audio recording of Chris' phone, recorded after the last concert in Buenos Aires.
