It's All Right With Me
Cole Porter Lyrics

Though your face is charming, it's the wrong face
It's not her face, but such a charming face
That it's all right with me
It's the wrong song, in the wrong style
Though your smile is lovely, it's the wrong smile
It's not her smile, but such a lovely smileThat it's all right with me
You can't know how happy I am that we met
I'm strangely attracted to you
There's someone I'm trying so hard to forget
Don't you want to forget someone, too?
It's the wrong game, with the wrong chips
Though your lips are tempting, they're the wrong lips
They're not her lips, but they're such tempting lips
That, if some night, you are free
Then it's all right, yes, it's all right with me
In Cole Porter's It's All Right With Me, the singer is expressing mixed emotions towards a woman he has met. He acknowledges that it is the wrong time and place for anything to happen between them. Yet, he finds her face and smile charming, albeit acknowledging that they are not her actual face and smile. He is trying to forget someone else, and he believes that she might be as well. He describes her lips as tempting, but once again acknowledges that they are not his ideal lips.
This song is a testament to the complex emotions that go on in someone's mind, trying to move on from someone else. The singer is willing to settle for someone who is not his ideal, as long as he can forget about someone else. The lyrics also suggest that the singer's attraction to the woman is based solely on her physical appearance, which is why he acknowledges the wrong face, smile, and lips.

Amazing piano. I also love how she just slides into the mic at the moment her verse starts.

The bassist was on fire too. The whole bank was cooking. We today need such musicians who can sing and play live like this.
@bkrider19
Wickipedia tells me the bassist was Pim's brother. No wonder the ensemble was so tight. Very hot band. I'll have to research them more. Definitely the most sophisticated European jazz I've heard. And Rita Reys was the wife of their original drummer, Wessel Ilcken. These folks were family and it shows.
