The Zombies disbanded. In the early 70's, Blunstone re-emerged as a solo act, and scored several major hits. The music featured rhythm guitar now and ranged from string arranged melodies, to rock, to American folk. The Zombies were never far away; for instance, "Andorra", written by co-Zombies Rod Argent and White, is a remake of "Time of the Season".
"One Year" was his first solo album.
In the late 70's Colin lent his voice to The Alan Parsons Project, a logical progression from his solo work, as can be heard in a song such as "Old and Wise".
Colin is currently touring and recording again with Rod Argent, another founder member of the Zombies, performing both new material and hits from their joint and solo careers.
Beginning
Colin Blunstone Lyrics

I sit here reading by your light
My mind is singing
With all we've said
Scared at how final it can be
For wrong and right
Are not black and white
Everything falls in the middle
Surrounds you in the night
You suddenly find yourself running
Keep out the people
Keep out the day
Let us begin by beginning
The secret of the future's never told
Let us begin by beginning
Let us begin by beginning
The lyrics to Colin Blunstone's song "Beginning" paint a picture of a person sitting alone, reading, and reflecting on the events of the day. The singer has clearly had a meaningful conversation with someone, as their "mind is singing with all we've said." Despite this, the idea of finality scares them, for they understand that "wrong and right are not black and white" - that life is complex and filled with shades of gray. The singer suggests that "everything falls in the middle," meaning that there is no clear-cut answer in life; instead, there is always some ambiguity to be found.
The second verse speaks to the idea of self-doubt and how it can be all-encompassing, especially at night. The line "you suddenly find yourself running" speaks to the idea of fleeing from the things that make us uncomfortable or uncertain in life. The next two lines, "Keep out the people / Keep out the day" suggest that the singer wants to retreat into their own world, where they can ignore the complexities of life for a while. The final lines of the chorus implore the listener to "begin by beginning," ushering them forward into a future that is shrouded in mystery and uncertainty.
Overall, the lyrics to "Beginning" speak to the idea of embracing uncertainty and not being afraid to start anew. While life is complicated and often difficult to understand, the singer suggests that the only way to move forward is to take the first step and begin something new.
