The Zombies disbanded. In the early 70's, Blunstone re-emerged as a solo act, and scored several major hits. The music featured rhythm guitar now and ranged from string arranged melodies, to rock, to American folk. The Zombies were never far away; for instance, "Andorra", written by co-Zombies Rod Argent and White, is a remake of "Time of the Season".
"One Year" was his first solo album.
In the late 70's Colin lent his voice to The Alan Parsons Project, a logical progression from his solo work, as can be heard in a song such as "Old and Wise".
Colin is currently touring and recording again with Rod Argent, another founder member of the Zombies, performing both new material and hits from their joint and solo careers.

It was written in your eyes
You looked away but I knew as you went
You'd walked out of my life
It doesn't make it any easier
If I say that I believe you
It doesn't make it any easier
If I say it isn't true
And I never knew what you wanted from me
Was it more than I could give
Had someone hurt you so badly before
You never could forgive
It doesn't make it any easier
If I say that I believe you
It doesn't make it any easier
If I say it isn't true
Hearts that turn and break away
Never heal the wounds they make
And oh I never knew
Love could be so cruel
And promises that meant so much
Are broken with the final touch
And now that they're gone
It gets so hard
To find the words
To say
I never stopped you from living your dreams
Your heart was always free
And many's the time the tears that you cried
Weren't cried because of me
It doesn't make it any easier
If I say that I believe you
It doesn't make it any easier
If I say it isn't true
Hearts that turn and break away
Never heal the wounds they make
And oh I never knew
Love could be so cruel
And promises that meant so much
Are broken with the final touch
And now that they're gone
It gets so hard
To find the words
To say
I heard what you said but I knew what you meant
It was written in your eyes
You looked away but I knew as you went
You'd walked out of my life
Hearts that turn
"Hearts That Turn" is a melancholic love song by Colin Blunstone, the British singer-songwriter who rose to fame as the lead singer of the Zombies. The song describes the aftermath of a breakup or a difficult separation, where the singer tries to come to terms with his feelings of loss, confusion, and disbelief. The lyrics suggest that the breakup was unexpected and painful, and that the two partners had different expectations and needs that couldn't be met. The chorus repeats the phrase "hearts that turn and break away, never heal the wounds they make," which serves as a metaphor for the emotional scars that a failed relationship can leave.
The first verse of the song sets the tone, with the singer saying that he "heard what you said but knew what you meant." This implies that the partner's words may have been ambiguous or evasive, but their true feelings were revealed through their body language and eyes. The singer says that he knew the partner was leaving, and it was a final goodbye. Despite the pain and sadness, the singer acknowledges that believing in something that isn't true won't make it easier to understand or accept.
In the second verse, the singer wonders what went wrong, and if there was something he could have done differently to make the relationship work. He suggests that his partner may have been hurt in the past, and couldn't forgive or trust anyone else. The singer feels powerless and confused, and there are no easy answers or explanations.
The chorus serves as a refrain, expressing the idea that when hearts turn away, they leave lasting scars that are hard to heal. The singer expresses surprise at the cruelty of love, and how promises that were meaningful and sincere can be broken so easily. The final lines of the chorus suggest that finding words to express these feelings is difficult, and that the loss of a loved one makes everything more challenging.
The final verse brings the song full circle, with the singer saying that he never tried to hold back his partner, but supported their dreams and ambitions. He acknowledges that the partner had other reasons for leaving, and that he wasn't the sole cause of their tears. The song ends with the same lines as the beginning, as a sort of elegy to lost love.

Thanks for posting. Must have been one of Cozy’s last sessions.
Antonio Garcia
It blew my mind when I read this guy was from The Zombies. And to realize Don Airey has a brother. Anyway It’s just ridiculous the quality Cozy and Don could bring to any record. What a gem.
