The Zombies disbanded. In the early 70's, Blunstone re-emerged as a solo act, and scored several major hits. The music featured rhythm guitar now and ranged from string arranged melodies, to rock, to American folk. The Zombies were never far away; for instance, "Andorra", written by co-Zombies Rod Argent and White, is a remake of "Time of the Season".
"One Year" was his first solo album.
In the late 70's Colin lent his voice to The Alan Parsons Project, a logical progression from his solo work, as can be heard in a song such as "Old and Wise".
Colin is currently touring and recording again with Rod Argent, another founder member of the Zombies, performing both new material and hits from their joint and solo careers.

Northern seas from home
And told me about the morning that was breaking
And the love she kept inside
The California sun may have me on the run, but
Home is where my heart lies
Far beneath the grey skies
Home where my love keeps a song sung for me
No matter where I might be
I've flown the world and watched
The sunset down in old Jamaica
I've crossed the mountains and the desserts
Where the western heroes sung
And I'll be back someday
As soon as I can get away
Those memories will never fade away, but
Home is where my heart lies
Far beneath the grey skies
Home where my love keeps a song sung for me
Home where my thoughts keep on wandering
No matter where I might be
I wanna be back home again
In the land where I belong
I wanna see my love again soon
Sitting in the evening sun
These days I won't ever regret
I've been so happy here, and yet
There is one thing I can't forget
Home is where my heart lies
Far beneath the grey skies
Take me back, take me back
To the land that I love
Won't you take me back
Take me back
The song "Home" by Colin Blunstone centers around the theme of longing for home and the comfort that comes with it, no matter where one may find themselves. The lyrics paint a picture of a person who is traveling the world and experiencing new things, but ultimately feels disconnected and incomplete without the familiarity and warmth of home. The first verse introduces a conversation that the singer has with someone back home, who tells him/her of the day starting. The second stanza highlights the various experiences that the singer has had while traveling, from watching sunsets in Jamaica to traversing mountains and deserts, but emphasizes that no matter how wonderful these experiences have been, nothing can compare to the love waiting for him/her at home.
The chorus underscores the central idea of the song - that home is where the heart is. The singer sings of wanting to return to the land where he/she belongs, to be with loved ones once again. The final stanza speaks of how happy the singer has been during his/her travels, but emphasizes that home will always be his/her true home.
Overall, the lyrics of "Home" are a poignant reflection on the age-old idea that no matter where one goes or what one experiences, it is the warmth and familiarity of home that ultimately holds the greatest appeal.
