The Zombies disbanded. In the early 70's, Blunstone re-emerged as a solo act, and scored several major hits. The music featured rhythm guitar now and ranged from string arranged melodies, to rock, to American folk. The Zombies were never far away; for instance, "Andorra", written by co-Zombies Rod Argent and White, is a remake of "Time of the Season".
"One Year" was his first solo album.
In the late 70's Colin lent his voice to The Alan Parsons Project, a logical progression from his solo work, as can be heard in a song such as "Old and Wise".
Colin is currently touring and recording again with Rod Argent, another founder member of the Zombies, performing both new material and hits from their joint and solo careers.
Walking in the Rain

I can still taste your mouth
When Miles was on the radio
And all the lights were out
But we were too young to really understand
This kind of blue
And I still believed forever came
And we were
Lost in the innocence of youth
It was a time of revolution
When all the world went mad
And the stars that took you far away
Would never bring you back
And if I'd spoken to you then maybe I'd have stood a chance
To make you stay
One more night
One more day
In every silence I can hear your name
Now that you've gone
It's not the same
I only find you when I'm walking in the rain
Well I lost you in America
When all your dreams came true
But it's a cruel world we're living in
And time ran out on you
And now that the camera doesn't love you
Like it used to do
I wonder if you listen to
Miles play 'Kinda Blue'
Like I do
In every silence I can hear your name
Now that you've gone
It's not the same
I only find you when I'm walking in the rain
The lyrics to Colin Blunstone's song "Walking In The Rain" are filled with themes of nostalgia, lost love, and the passage of time. The opening lines indicate that the singer still remembers the taste of their lover’s mouth after all these years, highlighting the enduring power of certain memories. The mention of Miles playing "Kinda Blue" on the radio and all the lights being out evokes a sense of youth and naivety, a time when they didn't fully comprehend what it meant to be truly blue. However, the singer still believed in love and its power to sustain forever.
The chorus, “In every silence, I can hear your name, Now that you've gone, it's not the same, I only find you when I'm walking in the rain,” conjures the image of the singer walking alone in the rain, trying to find their lost love. The verse "Well, I lost you in America, when all your dreams came true, But it's a cruel world we're living in, and time ran out on you", suggests that the loved one moved on to chase their dreams, but tragically time ran out for them, leaving the singer to wonder what could have been.
Overall, "Walking In The Rain" is a beautifully written elegy to a lost love. The verses perfectly capture the feelings of regret and longing, while the chorus conveys the constant presence of the loved one in the singer's thoughts.
