Into The Mystic
Colin James Lyrics

Also younger than the sun
Ere the Bonnie boat was one
As we sailed into the mystic
Hark now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly
And when that foghorn blows
I will be coming home
And when that foghorn blows
I wanna hear it
I don't wanna fear it
And I wanna rock your gypsy soul
And it's just like the days of old
And together we will flow
As we sailed into the mystic
Come on
Come on
And when that foghorn blows
I will be coming home
And when at foghorn blows
I wanna hear it
I don't wanna fear it
And I wanna rock your gypsy soul
And it's just like way back in the days of old
And together we will flow
As we sailed into the mystic
Come on
Come on
Come on
Well, it's too late to stop now
It's too late to stop now
The Colin James song "Into The Mystic" is a very romantic song about embarking on a mystical journey with a loved one. The opening verse sets the tone of the song by describing the singer and his beloved as being born before the wind and younger than the sun, which implies a timeless and ageless quality to their journey. They sail in a Bonnie boat, which refers to the Scottish word for "pretty" or "fine" and symbolizes their elegant and beautiful journey. As they sail, they are heading "into the mystic," which suggests a journey into the unknown and perhaps a spiritual journey.
The chorus of the song describes the sensual and transcendent experience of sailing the seas, smelling the salt in the air, feeling the wind and sun, and letting the soul and spirit soar. The second verse returns to the theme of the foghorn, which represents a warning of danger and also the signal of homecoming. The singer wants to hear the foghorn as a signal of coming home, but he also wants to be able to enjoy the moment and not fear it. The final verse repeats the themes of the gypsy soul and the days of old, suggesting that the journey they are taking is both timeless and free-spirited.
Overall, the song is a beautiful ode to love, adventure, and the mystical power of the sea. By combining poetic imagery, romantic sentiment, and a haunting melody, it captures the essence of a journey that is both physical and spiritual.

We were borne before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won
As we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that foghorn blows
I will be coming home
And when the foghorn blows
I want to hear it
I don't have to fear it and I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will flow into the mystic
When that fog horn blows
You know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows
I got to hear it
I don't have to fear it and I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will flow into the mystic
Come on, girl
Too late to stop now

Beautiful version. People on here seem to think it is an either/or. It's not. Van Morrison did a beautiful job with his creation. The question is not which one is better. The question is did Colin do justice to Van's work? I believe he did.

Impossible to say one is better than the other (Colin vs. Van). They are both versions of an amazing and timeless song. Thank God for great music in these crazy times..

Given that Van Morrison is making songs protesting COVID restrictions, I feel much more vindicated in saying that Colin improved his song.
