Executed with poise, class, professionalism and a lot of sass, the music of the Colorifics is a welcome refreshment for the musical soul. Their live shows energize crowds with a constant stream of color; mixing different genres and rhythms into a tapestry of sweet melodies and rich harmonies. With original songs rivalling jazz standards of the past and pop hits of today, the band's sound exudes a familiar simplicity while drawing the more experienced ear towards their unique arrangements.
The Colorifics repertoire is infused with an exciting flare of bohemian-cabaret and originally-spun tributes to the dirty 30's, 40's jazz, and 60's surf and Beatles pop era. The four members make use of three and four part harmony, acoustic and electric guitar, gypsy-jazz fiddle, flute, trumpet, and latin-jazz-rock percussion; giving a sizeable amount of sound layering to their songs. Writing tunes meant to be catchy, danceable, and seamlessly multi-genre in basis, these high calibre musicians bring light to any stage and movement to any audience.
Formed in 1995 Vancouver, Canada, the band has toured nationally and internationally, released 4 full-length albums to critical acclaim, and played for international festivals, high calibre corporate gigs, and Vancouver's largest soft seat theatres.

Get away from this place,
But I'm stuck like glue to you.
I wish I could die, and finish this lie,
But I won't 'cause I know
That it may cause hurt to you.
Flying in a plane
Would be a thrill.
[Or] making history in the world today
By sculpting some words or
Or lazy let it slip away.
And if I took a trip to another horizon,
The weather would change.
The freedom isn't a winter vacation,
It's living today.
Only I will know if I can
Build rocket ships with my hands
And with my mind.
But dreams will never die.
They cower and hide
And they manifest and grow
Deeper inside.
Alone, I wonder why
Should I save my soul
In a future dream of eternity.
When life is to spend,
And despite the trends,
I'd rather be a fighter to live it free.
And if I took a trip to another horizon,
The weather would change.
The freedom isn't a winter vacation,
It's living today.
After all the pain
And the tears subside,
I find that there's still love inside.
And I want you back,
And a right to choose
Whether I will win my life
Or I will lose.
And if I took a trip to another horizon,
The weather would change.
The freedom isn't a winter vacation,
It's living today.
And if I took a trip to another horizon,
The weather would change.
The freedom isn't a winter vacation,
It's living today.
The Colorifics’ “Soda Pop” is a song that explores the themes of escapism, self-discovery, and the desire for freedom from the mundane. The opening lyrics “I could take a trip, get away from this place, but I'm stuck like glue to you” suggest the singer’s desire to escape their current situation but their entanglement with someone or something is holding them back. The line “I wish I could die and finish this lie, but I won't 'cause I know that it may cause hurt to you” indicates a sense of resignation and guilt about wanting to leave.
The chorus revolves around the idea of taking a trip to another horizon as a symbol for escape and the possibility of change. The idea of escaping via plane ride is portrayed as thrilling, and the notion of making history by sculpting words indicates a desire for self-expression and creativity. The line “The freedom isn't a winter vacation, it's living today” indicates that true freedom is found in the present moment and not in a fantasy world of escapism.
The second verse suggests that the singer may have artistic or scientific ambitions that they feel trapped in their current situation. The line “Only I will know if I can build rocket ships with my hands and with my mind” implies a desire to achieve something great but they feel held back. The final verse finds the singer reflecting on their life and love, and expressing a desire to have agency over their own life. The repeated refrain of “And if I took a trip to another horizon, the weather would change” further emphasizes the idea of escape and the possibility of a fresh start.
