The band's line-up has been restructured since the their inception, but has remained steady since May of 1999. Since then, the band has released six studio albums and has amassed a large international following. They have toured extensively within Germany, and frequently perform in and around Belgium, Holland and Austria.
Initially, the band seemed to be strongly influenced by the sounds of Black Sabbath - perhaps most notably in their 1999 album, titled Periscope. This style later evolved into an unmistakably dry, bass-laden soundscape. Characteristic of this phase is Kogleks' continual guitar playing between trance-like bass rhythms. The albums Ewige Blumenkraft and Los Sounds de Krauts allowed the band to further develop this style with longer, more complex song structures, and increasingly strong jam and jazz elements.
The results of these experiments were, in part, ridiculously long, complex, and self-referential 20-minute songs - culminating in their seminal self-titled album, Colour Haze, which was released in 2004. On their follow-up LP, Tempel, the three continued to work with their innovative take on drone-based stoner rock. Even temporary arrangements within their experimental albums evolved into potent and complex arrangements, which for the most part were still jazz-based. With their more recent albums, however, Colour Haze have also effectively melded the sounds of world music into their style.

Colour Haze Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Now I turned a circle to an 8
Could it safe me a day when there was something new to
Learn could I get that turn
With fear and anger all within I find a new sun
Back on the tracks I'd ride before, to the other shore
Now I turned a circle to a 9
1 in the desert once again clear my wounds up 2 find
What's been left to seek with
A mind set 3, 4 this lonely morning send me 5 dew-drops
For one who 6 liquid in
The dried 7 it all starts again
I'm gonna get to find me a new sun
A new sun
The song "Sun" by Colour Haze is a complex and introspective track. The first verse describes a struggle to move forward while feeling stuck in a cycle of past behavior. The singer reflects on their past experiences, feeling as though they are simply back on the tracks they once rode before towards the same shore. However, the repeated action has resulted in the transformation of the path into an "8" shape. The singer wonders if this new path, this diversion from the old route, will ultimately result in a different outcome or if it is just another repetition of the same patterns.
The second verse shifts the focus to the present moment, as the singer finds themselves in a challenging situation, perhaps in the middle of the desert. The imagery of clearing up wounds suggests both a physical and emotional state of being. The singer is looking for something, perhaps clarity or answers, but the search is hindered by a sense of loneliness and a mind-set that is closed off to new experiences. However, the final lines of the song offer a glimmer of hope as the singer expresses a determination to find a "new sun" and start over again.
Overall, the song explores the themes of struggle, introspection, and the search for meaning, set against a backdrop of haunting and evocative instrumentation.

Stoned Meadow Of Doom
One of their best songs. Periscope is a very underrated Colour Haze album, one of their finest.

Nothing like a bright Sunny morning, coffee in hand, basking in the Sun after a wet dreary yesterday and enjoying some Colour Haze.

marvelous tune and band, tho the album "Periscope" was recorded in 1999, not 2002.
