I think it's important to mention (and this is from Season 1 commentary from creator Chris Cantwell) that there's a bit of transposal here - Joe is definitely Blue (famed for his coldness and working for "BIg Blue" [IBM]), Gordon is definitely Green (sickness, but also a desire for connection, as seen in the verdant settings of his favorite activity, camping), but Cantwell attributes Red as Cameron's color. Her passion, her fiery nature, how she's very frequently "seeing red." It's Donna, however, whose color and subsequent color theory is subject to continuous change, because she exists as the show's wild card. HaCF centers its narrative on the main Cardiff trio of Joe, Gordon, and Cameron, but Donna finds herself at the center of the action again and again, and it's her color that most commonly is dependent on those around her. In her is the desire for connection (S1 Donna), her fiery passion (S2/3 Donna), and her ability to be cold and calculating (S4 Donna). And the show often uses background paintings to further underline its color theory. There are a handful of episodes that single out Cameron as red, as she is seen multiple times in season two set against (or even directly staring at) paintings that juxtapose her red with an offsetting blue, as to draw a direct line between her and her relationship with Joe.

This is a very thoughful put together analysis of something I never gave a second thought... Please do keep the series up! I love every second thus far. :D

Thanks! Will try to. Won't be super regular I imagine but just fun for me to have a go at!

Halt and Catch fire is such an underrated show and I'm glad that this is the first show you decided to go with for new analysis series. Anyway, I sure do want more. Weather it's movies or tv shows but can I make a suggestion? Person Of Interest. It was Jonathan Nolan's first show before WestWorld and it's such an underrated show as well. It does reminds me of as a Batman the TV series if any of the Nolans decided to recreate Batman The Animated series. It does feel like the comics as well especially when the main Batman title was written by Greg Rucka or Ed Brubaker(who also writes for WestWorld.) The later few seasons does feel like the Snyder/Tom King's run.

Was not expecting the depth and importance of this but I really appreciate it I’m rewatching the show and now I’ve got a different lens to watch it through

So long as you don't slow down with comics analyses, I'm all in. Remember that there are a lot of film/television analysis channels on YouTube, but you seem to be the only person here analyzing comics techniques.

Strip Panel Naked

coffeefrog Yup, not stopping the regular episodes, but doing one of these every other month or so!

This was very helpful thank you :) I love your channel very much. I guess as everyone sends there a lot of channels talking about movies but not many about comics. Still, I guess your ideas about comics or movies are new and very informative so even if you do movies, I'm sure the content will be a different perspective from the other channels. So it is always great to see your comics videos but some movies episodes from time to time will give a comic book creator like me a new perspective in my work.
Thanks and keep the great work :)
