Colours Run are a Manchester band, and all hail from the area (except for Tim, who comes from Liverpool). They devote themselves to writing and playing music with genuine emotional depth and catchy hooks. "Could be, and should be, absolutely massive", say www.manchestermusic.co.uk with "the sort of tunes you could imagine filling stadiums".
They've recently recorded and self-produced an EP (The Sticks), which can be previewed at www.myspace.com/coloursrun, and have headlined many of Manchester's finest venues, including Night & Day and The Late Room. Colours Run are currently listening to a lot of Rufus Wainwright and Elbow. "Tim would very much like to meet Guy Garvey since he seems like a really sorted bloke who wears great scarves".

Colours Run Lyrics

Of the sweetest vision
I saw the end of the chase
And I was so calm, with no fear
No indecision
Writ in the lines upon my face
Every sky is fine
Lost inside the lie
Oh God, I just thought
I let the light go out
I let the light go out
And this is my reward
You gave me a beautiful wife
With a good complexion
Strangers playing at my feet
And myriad drugs to contain
This strange infection
That leaves me feeling so incomplete
Now take me somewhere still
No horns, no bitter pills
Cos now that I've found all that I sought
I let the light go out
I let the light go out
And this is my reward
Save me from all this doubt
Just let the light go out
This is my reward
Leaves on the Autumn track
Oh honey don't look back
They're faster than us
Why must you move so slow
Oh honey, don't you know
They're catching us
Till then I don't think about it
Life is such fun without it
I'll outrun you
Pilot Light
The lyrics of Colours Run's song "Pilot Light" describe the struggles of a man who has lost his way in life. He wakes up from a sweet dream and faces the start of a new week, but he feels unfulfilled and incomplete. The man has achieved material success, like a beautiful wife, adoring fans and access to myriad drugs to keep him going. However, he feels lost and disconnected from the world. The only thing that keeps him going is the elusive pilot lightβa metaphor for hope, strength and resilienceβthat he allowed to go out. He reflects on the moments he lost the light, the fears and doubts that crept in, and regrets the consequences that he now has to face.
The song speaks to the human condition and the constant struggle we face to hold onto the things that matter most. It highlights how easy it is to get caught up with the distractions of life, to forget our purpose and lose sight of what makes us happy. Yet, the song is also a reminder of the importance of hope and the limitless potential we carry within ourselves. It is a call to take a moment and reignite the pilot light, no matter how dim it may be. Only then, can we find the strength to move onward, leaving doubts behind, and chase our dreams, unbridled.
