Colours Run are a Manchester band, and all hail from the area (except for Tim, who comes from Liverpool). They devote themselves to writing and playing music with genuine emotional depth and catchy hooks. "Could be, and should be, absolutely massive", say www.manchestermusic.co.uk with "the sort of tunes you could imagine filling stadiums".
They've recently recorded and self-produced an EP (The Sticks), which can be previewed at www.myspace.com/coloursrun, and have headlined many of Manchester's finest venues, including Night & Day and The Late Room. Colours Run are currently listening to a lot of Rufus Wainwright and Elbow. "Tim would very much like to meet Guy Garvey since he seems like a really sorted bloke who wears great scarves".

Song for the Doctor
Colours Run Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On these cliffs, you can't stand back
And all you feel anymore
Are the thorns around your heart
Come down before you fall
Apart
But love, we've got it made
With my book upside down
I am waiting in the dark
Come home, because you hurt my heart
Come home before we fall
Apart, apart
The song "Song for the Doctor" by Colours Run is a poignant tribute to the selfless dedication of medical professionals. The song opens with the acknowledgement that doctors and healthcare workers always give more than they have. The pressure of saving lives, making life-altering decisions, and the weight of the responsibility, can be overwhelming. The lyrics reflect the frustration of being unable to step back from the cliff's edge of work when it threatens to become all-encompassing.
The second verse talks more about the doctors' personal lives, with the mention of "cash to line our early graves." The singer acknowledges that the calling that doctors feel is not necessarily going to end up in comfortable and predictable situations. The real danger of this lifestyle is that while doctors may be dedicating their lives to serving others, their own physical or mental health may be compromised. This puts them in danger of losing themselves, something that the singer asks the medical professionals to avoid.
The recurring theme of the song is the fear of falling apart. In the chorus, the singer expresses the hope that love will hold them together, and that they will return home before their hearts break. The song is a powerful composition that not only honors the work of healthcare workers but raises awareness of the toll such careers can take.
