San Diego, CA – August 3rd, 2005 – San Diego based hard rock band Colporter has continued to work with producer Steve Russell, who recently finished production on As I Lay Dying and Mortal Enemy, to complete a follow up EP to their first release Sovereign Mind. The EP is titled Despite the Battle and features a more progressive metal sound than their first LP that garnered the band much success in the past 24 months. The band plans to celebrate the release of the EP at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood, CA on the 23rd of this month.
Colporter has built upon a solid foundation of seven string guitar and five string bass, mystically paired with what a Colporter fan dubbed as “vocals that sound like Tori Amos’ evil twin”. Though a far stretch from pop to Colporter, the comparison to Amos stems from singer Sarah Paolini’s ability to wail into the rafters and reach audiences on an emotional level. Influences that can be heard in the music are Alice In Chains, Megadeth, Sevendust, and Godsmack. The band sees themselves as a perfect fit for the Ozzfest croud and are determined to see female artists making a seriously significant mark in the hard rock and metal genres in the very near future. “There is Evanascense and then there is Kittie…we are filling the void in between,’ says Sarah, also setting herself apart from the norm by dominating on the five-string bass. The other half of what creates such a signature sound with Colporter is the amazing guitar playing by David Paolini, recently endorsed by Randall Amplifiers, Basson Cabinets, Halo Guitars and Coffin Case and surely a future cover model for all the guitar magazines out there.
The Reaper

Watches and spins
An eternal lie
He wants the feeling
Of your failure
He wants the fattening of your demise
When all the color leaves your face
your bones grow week and weary
a statue of your glory
The reaper hides away
seeks his prey
In the dark of night
He finds the shadow
in disguise
Hear his speak the father of lies
When all the color leaves your face
your bones grow week and weary
Will there be a mark in place
a statue of your glory
(BRIDGE)
When the bird lays
dead in his nest
The sun falls on
a crackling leaf
Can you gracefully
go to rest
To the next life
silently proceeded
Proceed
When all the color leaves your face
your bones grow week and weary
Will there be a mark in place
a statue of your glory
Your glory
your glory
