In 2003 Andy LaPlegua of "Icon of Coil" wrote a few power noise/techno cross over tracks under the name of "D.R.I.V.E.". This was changed to "Combichrist" when the debut album, "The Joy of Gunz" was set to be released on Out Of Line. The name Combichrist originates from a hardcore fanzine LaPlegua made during the late 90s, with "JR Ewing" guitarist HÃ¥kon Mella.
The follow up EPs, and the clamour for live shows, sent Combichrist out on the road where they would become known for their strong and energetic performances.
Their second EP, "Sex, Drogen und Industrial", spent 7 weeks at number one in the DAC charts.
In March of 2007 they released their third album "What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People?". "Today We Are All Demons", was released on January 20th, 2009.
The band had been selected to support industrial metal band "Rammstein" for their 2009 European tour and continued to support them during the 2010 part of the tour.
August 2010 saw the release of "Making Monsters", which had full tracks available for streaming on the website, each track being rolled out for a new one. Combichrist undertook a tour in support of the new album in late 2010, with "Aesthetic Perfection" and "iVardensphere" as the support bands.
Their most recent album, "No Redemption", was released in January of 2013 in both single and 2CD versions. This album was the official soundtrack album for the video game "Devil May Cry". The limited edition bonus CD was essentially a greatest hits compilation.
March 2014 will see the release of a new album titled "We Love You", with an accompanying tour of North America starting in April. "William Control" and "New Years Day" have been announced as the support bands.
Combichrist have had much more success than many of the other acts emerging from the electronic underground and the band have become one of the dark electro scene's most popular live acts.
The roster of live members is currently Joe Letz (ex "Genitorturers"), Mr Petersen, Z_Marr (ex "Hell Trash"), Kourtney Klein (who also played drums for the reformed "Nitzer Ebb") and Trevor Friedrich who was the drummer for "Eighteen Visions" and "Imperative Reaction". Past live members include HÃ¥kon Mella, Bjoern Petersen, Syn M, Shaun Frandsen & Jon H.

Bottle of Pain
Combichrist Lyrics

Waking up in a pool of sweat
And eyes shaking wet like an earthquake
My body and I stay in a panic
I cannot sleep
But I cannot stay awake
Setting off their ways inside my head
Treat my mind like a bomb
I settled a
Splinters bouncing off the walls
Well I brought this bottle of pain
I have murdered my brain
Come on and give it a try if you wanna die
If we're going to hell tonight
I ain't going without a fight
I know I can't take you all
But hell I'll try
But hell I'll try
A nightmare regardless
I'm going manic
Can't stand the pain
Force of death are upon us
Still we are fighting among ourselves
My screams are drowning in silence
There is no more battles to be won
My screams are drowning in silence
Today we lost the sun
Well I brought this bottle of pain
I have murdered my brain
Come on and give it a try if you wanna die
If we're going to hell tonight
I ain't going without a fight
I know I can't take you all
But hell I'll try
But hell I'll try
My screams are drowning in silence
There is no more battles to be won
My screams are drowning in silence
Today we lost the sun
I brought this bottle of pain
Yeah, I've murdered my brain
Come on and give it a try if you wanna die
If we're going to hell tonight
I ain't going without a fight
I know I can't take you all
But hell I'll try
'Cause I brought this bottle of pain
I have murdered my brain
Come on and give it a try if you wanna die
And if we're going to hell tonight
I ain't going without a fight
I know I can't take you all
But hell I'll try
But hell I'll try
The lyrics to Combichrist's song Bottle of Pain depict the struggles of an individual who is dealing with immense physical and emotional pain. The song opens with the singer waking up in a sweat with trembling eyes and a body in panic. They cannot sleep but also cannot stay awake, indicating the severity of their distress. The singer is caught in a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions that are bombarding their mind.
As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges their severe state and brings up a metaphorical bottle of pain that they have been carrying. The lyrics suggest that the singer has already "murdered" their brain, which could refer to the severe emotional and physical pain they are dealing with. The singer urges others to give the bottle a try if they want to die, indicating that the pain they are experiencing is excruciating and unbearable. However, despite their intense pain, the singer shows a willingness to fight and resist the affliction, even if they know that they cannot win against everything that is causing them hurt.
The lyrics to Bottle of Pain suggest that the singer is struggling with mental health issues, possibly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or addiction. The song may also tackle broader themes of social injustice and conflict, as evidenced by lyrics like "force of death are upon us, still we are fighting among ourselves." Regardless of the interpretation, the song's hauntingly dark lyrics and raw energy make it an intense and emotional experience for the listener.
