La Isla Bonita
Commercial Club Crew Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
I fell in love with San Pedro
Warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me
Te dijo te amo
I prayed that the days would last, they went so fast
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
The lyrics of Commercial Club Crew's song La Isla Bonita tell a story of a nostalgic and romantic love affair that took place on the tropical island of San Pedro. The singer recalls dreaming of the island as if they had never left, and hearing a samba that would make the sun set and their heart skip a beat. The song exalts the beauty and freedom of the island, with its wild nature and hot breeze, all of which make the singer long to be back there.
The lyrics also introduce a young girl with "eyes like the desert," who the singer presumably fell in love with during their time on San Pedro. Her Spanish language and culture are referenced in the "Spanish lullaby" that she sings, which becomes a memorable part of the singer's experience on the island. The song's title translates to "The Beautiful Island," further underscoring the romantic and idealistic vision of paradise that the singer associates with San Pedro.
As for the song itself, "La Isla Bonita" was originally written and performed by Madonna in 1987, before being remixed and covered by various artists in subsequent years. Commercial Club Crew's version, released in 2007, is an electronic dance music (EDM) take on the original, with a faster beat and more pronounced synthesizers. The song has become a popular club remix, as well as a catchy and upbeat addition to beach party playlists.

Andorfine, I first listened to this song in the airplane from Washington DC, USA to Vienna, Austria. Best flight ever on summer vacation 2009. I couldn't believe Hands Up was on the Dancefloor radio in the airplane. Back when there was no spotify :/ My fave release ever.
