"Committed" a four pieced acoustic rock band from the Lake Ray Hubbard area of Dallas, Texas was formed by two young men Austin Bello and Caleb Turman who began playing guitar together at the age of 12. Not long after coming together the duo discovered that they had a knack for writing music. The group was later rounded out when they found two others who shared their passion for acoustic music; enter Drew Beilman, the band's bass player and Johnny McAnally, the drummer. In a short period of time Committed had developed their own music flavor that was influenced greatly by the artist/bands "Dashboard Confessional" and "Dave Matthews". On any given weekend you will find "Committed" playing their stylized acoustic rhythms they labeled (acoustic emo) at numerous venues in the North Texas area. Here are a few of the many favorable comments from club operators where they have performed. "Commited makes great post-punk, acoustic based rock that really fills the room. Passionate live performances really give the audience a euphoric high; the audience leaves with a tangible comfort and happiness every time they play." - The Door / Dallas, Texas "We recently had the band Committed play at our club and found them to be a very creative, high energy acoustic rock band. They brought a lot of enthusiasm and audience participation to the venue that night and we all had a great time. Great music and great people is what we're all about and the band Committed represented our venue well." - The Ice House / Rockwall, Texas "They display a genuine love of life and sing in such a way that they are sure to make a favorable impression. Sweetly singing through the night
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their great delight
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
Why these songs of happy cheer?
What great brightness did you see?
Christ, the Lord, the newborn King
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
While shepherds watches their flock by night
All seated on the ground
The Angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around
And glory shone around
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
In Excelsis Deo
The lyrics of "Angels We Have Heard On High" describe the story of the shepherds who were visited by angels announcing the birth of Jesus Christ. The first two verses set up the scene of the angels singing and the mountains echoing their joy. The chorus, which is the Latin phrase "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" translates to "Glory to God in the highest," is a traditional hymn of praise to God. The third verse describes the shepherds watching their flock by night when suddenly an angel shines their glory upon them and proclaims the birth of the newborn King, Jesus Christ.
One interpretation of this song is that it symbolizes the joy and excitement of the shepherds upon receiving the good news. They are surrounded by the magnificence of the angels singing and the mountains echoing their songs. The shepherds are so moved by the experience that they join in praising God, which is why the song is commonly sung in churches today during the Christmas season.
"Angels We Have Heard On High" is a popular Christmas carol that has been covered by countless artists over the years, providing their own unique interpretation of the song. It has become synonymous with the holiday season, and its timeless message of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ continues to resonate with people today.
