I'm The Pro
Computer Magic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Set down a call
Just do it my way or no way at all
It's true
I can't do it my way, my powers are strong
If I use them up now, I'd probably be gone
Too soon
'Cause I'm the pro-tector
'Cause I'm the pro-tector
'Cause I'm the pro
Away from protecting, away from the day
Aside from rejecting your feelings
They say you're good
So now you're reflecting the things from the past
Just stop interjecting, these feelings will pass
... They should
'Cause I'm the pro-tector
'Cause I'm the pro-tector
'Cause I'm the pro-tector
'Cause I'm the pro
The lyrics to Computer Magic's song "I'm The Pro" seem to be discussing the concept of being in control and protecting oneself from external influences. The opening line "Back from the hallway, set down a call" suggests that the singer has returned from a possibly stressful situation and is now taking control of the situation. The line "Just do it my way or no way at all, it's true" may indicate that the singer is a bit of a control freak who wants things done their way or not at all.
The following lines "I can't do it my way, my powers are strong. If I use them up now, I'd probably be gone. Too soon" suggest that the singer's control is limited and that if they use up all their energy trying to control everything, they will eventually burn out. The chorus repeats the phrase "Cause I'm the pro-tector" which seems to confirm that the singer sees themselves as the one in control and the one protecting themselves from harm. The second verse seems to be addressing someone else and their emotional state. The line "Aside from rejecting your feelings, they say you're good" is a bit confusing but it could suggest that the singer is trying to help the other person reject their negative emotions and focus on the positive.
Overall, the song seems to be about control, protection and helping others find a positive outlook. It may also be a commentary on how easy it is to get burnt out when trying to control everything around us.
